Social Media for Educators

Kelly LeahyAugust 2016

I found Pinterest to be the most: ● user friendly● Easy to organize ideas ● Easiest to view previously saved items● addicting!

Most Useful Tools

Animoto allows educators to produce quality videos for classroom and social media platform use. It can be used to teach lessons in a meaningful way, display work/portfolios, and to publish memories for students and parents to treasure.

Most Useful Tools

While I had not previously used the other forms of social media in the course, Diigo was the only one that I had never even heard of before.This is a Study Group gamechanger! The grouping feature makes it simple to share articles with your notes attached virtually. The highlighter is great for effective digital notetaking.

I am thrilled with the exposure and training I received in the different forms of social media. As I embark on this new school year, I am eager

to expand my pinterest boards and also to welcome my kindergarten families on Meet the Teacher Night with a new animoto video. I am now well-equipped to search and store new

ideas and digital resources!Sucesses

● I found Diigo to be an extremely useful tool. However, I got into trouble with the highlighter and it took me a while to figure out how to unhighlight mistakes. My mouse was also getting stuck which caused the unwanted highlighting and headache.

● I also had issues with LinkedIn when it came to making connections. I think it’s because most of my friends do not use it so it was hard to find people I knew on the network.Challenges

I enjoyed taking this course using Moodle,it enabled me to;

● work at my own pace

● delve deeper into my own personal interests making the course student-centered and engaging

● access my course anywhere & anytime

This was my 3rd Moodle course and even though the format was a little different, I still had enough experience that I was able to navigate the site with ease.
