THEPROBLEM:TheNationalCommunityPharmacistAssociationestimatesthatconsumersandhealthsystemsthrowawayonaverage250millionpoundsofmedicineeachyear.Annually,over4billionprescriptionsarefilledby67thousandU.S.pharmacies;7outofevery10Americanstakeatleastonemedication,and40%ofthesedrugsdispensedoutsideofhospitalsareunused.Theseunusedandexpiredmedicationsareasignificantsourceofbothsafetyandenvironmentalproblems,andtheirimproperdisposalfromhomemedicinecabinets,managedcarefacilities,hospitalsandhospicecarefacilitieshasdramaticallycontributedtotheopioidepidemic,accidentalpoisonings,drugoverdosesandthepollutionofournation’spublicdrinkingwater.ArecentstudybytheU.S.GeologicalSurveyshowsmeasurableamountsofdrugsin80%ofwatersamplesin30states,andwithover59,000deathsfromdrugoverdosesannually,weneedabetterwaytoremoveandmanagethesafedisposalofprescriptionmedications.Current“solutions”areinadequateandincludeflushing,mixingwithkittylitter,anddroppingoffmedicationsatdrugtake-backcenters.Theseprocedurescontaminatewatersupplies,encouragediversion,areinconvenientandinherentlyineffective.WebelievethatDisposeRxprovidesasolutionthatwillsavelivesandsubstantiallypreventtheimproperdisposalofdrugsthatendupinourwatersupplies.Bypermanentlyremovingdrugssuchasopioids,estrogens,psychoactivedrugs,antibiotics,toxicchemotherapiesandothersfromourmedicinecabinets,wecancreateahealthierhome,preventaddictionsanddeathsandpromoteahealthiersustainableenvironment.THESOLUTION,DisposeRx:Ourproductsafelyandconvenientlycapturesleftoveropioidsandotherecosystem-harmfuldrugswithintheprescriptionvialwheretheyarephysicallyandchemicallysequesteredinasolidifyinggelfromwhichtheycannotbeaccessedforillicituse,extracted,flushedorleachintolandfillstocontaminatewatersupplies.Weprovidetheonlynon-retrievablesolutionthatsafely,conveniently,andpermanentlydestroysdrugsinabiodegradablesolidthatismanufacturedwithcomponentsthataresafeenoughtobeeaten.

Althoughitisrecognizedthatalargeproportionofthedrugsindrinkingwatercomefromdrugsexcretedintothetoiletbypatients,asignificantproportioncomesfromdrugsbeingflushedorimproperlydiscardedintolandfillswhereleachingeffectsaddlong-termenvironmentaldangers.Asmoreandmoreprescriptionsarebeingwritten,thecontrolofmedicationdisposalisessential.Bysimplydissolvingmedicamentswithinourpatent-pendingcross-linkingpolymerstheywillbecomepermanentlycaptured,thuscannotbesolubilizedandeventuallybiodegrade.
