• 1st revolt (1868-1878) – unsuccessful• Spanish Gov’t in Cuba

• 2nd Revolt led to War for Independence (1895)– Jose Marti – organized Cuban resistance– “Cuba Libre!” – Free Cuba– Guerilla campaign
