Events and Programs in Montreal’s Jewish Community:
An important message to the TBDJ Community from Laura Ben-David of Shavei Israel
who visited us in October:
Shalom, On January 4, our beloved Bnei Menashe in Manipur, India, woke up to an earthquake measuring 6.7 on the Richter scale. While thank G-d none of them were in-jured, there is extensive property damage, and 50-60 families literally had to leave their homes.
We immediately created a relief fund to provide the help they desperately need as they pick up the pieces of their lives. We’re not aware of any other Jewish or Israeli organization providing assistance at this time. In fact, some of the families affected were the ones in the midst of preparing for their own imminent Aliyah to Israel.
I don’t know what you are able/comfortable to do with regards to your own community, but as many of them have just heard about the Bnei Menashe we thought they would want to know what is happen-ing, and what is being done to help. We would be so grateful if you could share. Even just to help get the word out to stress the importance it would be of huge assistance.
May we have only good news! Laura Emergency Bnei Menashe Earthquake Relief Click here to learn more and donate funds:
