Spreydon School Birthday
Information
• In 2009 the Spreydon School Council investigated having a Spreydon School Birthday.
• The School Council found out that on the 5th of August 1872, some land was granted for a school to be built on Halswell Road. This was first called the Upper Heathcote School and is now called Spreydon School.
Presents
• In 2010 the Spreydon School Council decided that on your birthday you should get a gift. So we came up with lots of ideas for presents for the school. We all decided on a school flag.
Design a Flag
• The School Council designed a competition for all students to enter.
• The students were asked to Design a Spreydon School Flag.
Entries
• The School Council met and looked at all the entries and decided on 10 to take to Mr Wardrop to consider for the Spreydon School Flag.
• Mr Wardrop narrowed it down to 7. But he couldn’t decide on one design.
Winners
• The seven winners were:
Lucy, Liana, Emma, Ruby, Olivia, Hayden and Brenna.
• They all received a muffin for their efforts.
Wellmarque
• Mr Wardrop invited the Ambassadors to go with him to WellMarque to work with Helen, a graphic designer, to create a Spreydon flag using all of the ideas from the competition winners.
