Dear Parents,

Thank you to all of you who came along to join us at our Harvest Assembly this morning. It was lovely

to see so many of you here and thank you for your generous gifts. We really enjoyed the children’s

singing, poetry and re-telling of ‘The Little Red Hen’. Well done to Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1.

Year 6 delivered all of the Harvest gifts to the Wallingford Food Bank this morning, who were very

grateful for the donations.

We have had children out on some exciting trips this week. Year 2 visited the River and Rowing Muse-

um as part of their topic, visiting the ‘Wind in the Willows’ exhibition and learning more about rivers.

Thank you to the parents who accompanied the class. Years 5 and 6 visited a Hindu Temple in Read-

ing as part of their topic learning about India, the Ganges and Indian culture and religion. Year 6 also

took part in the IMPS First Aid programme at Townlands Hospital in Henley. Photos of all of these

trips are included in this newsletter. Next week is our Art Week and we hope lots of you will come

and see our water themed exhibition on Thursday at 2pm. Year 5 are also hoping to perform their

Bangra dance!

We were visited on three days this week by teachers from South Africa as part of the CHOKO project.

They really enjoyed learning about how we teach and were particularly impressed by the creativity of

our teachers and the teaching of phonics! They went away with lots of photographs, resources and

ideas.

Our Autumn Fair on 30th September was a great success, raising around £1,600. Thank you so much

for supporting the event; it was a really fun and enjoyable day. Well done to the new PTFA com-

mittee and their many helpers for all of their hard work. It has been a great start to the PTFA year!

Tomorrow we are having a ‘mini’ Love Your School Day, from 10am - 1pm. If you can spare some time

to come along and sweep leaves, weed, fix fences…..we’d be really pleased to see you!

We are really keen to re-launch our reading journals this year and to support you in supporting your

children with reading at home. Many of you will have already received reading homework and seen

journals coming home. For the younger years, these will be issued soon. We are holding Phonics/

Reading Workshops for parents of children in Foundation Stage, Year 1 and Year 2 on Monday 16th

October, at 3pm and 7pm for Foundation Stage and 3.30pm and 7.30pm for Year 1 and 2. We hope

to see lots of you there.

A reminder that parent teacher interviews will be held during the week beginning 6th November.

Letters letting you know the days and times available for your child’s teacher will be sent out next

week, so do look out for that.

Have a lovely weekend.

Kind regards,

Nicky Hughes
