Prayer of the Week Almighty ever-living Father, despite my efforts to live as a faithful child of God, I still find myself prey to human weakness in the face of temptation. My soul often needs to be refined, made pure. Strengthen me that I may turn to the one true Light, Your son Jesus, and void the darkness of sin. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, Who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen. Reflection question: Do I recognize that the more time I devote to prayer, the less time I devote to sin and selfishness?
Living my faith in the year 2015….. The Year of Consecrated Life Pope Francis has announced that this year will be one in which we remember to give thanks to those religious who serve us in the Diocese of Rockville Centre. Our religion is at the center of our lives, and we are grateful to the men and women who, through their vows, have dedicated their lives to ministering to us. This year provides a wonderful opportunity to reflect on our lives as Catholics and recall those priests, religious sisters, and brothers who have had a part in guiding us on our faith journeys. Think of those who prepared you for your sacraments as well as those who administered them to you. When we think about it, we realize that most of the significant moments in our lives took place in church. Here at St. Ladislaus Church, as we prepare for our 100th Anniversary, we gather memories of the priests who have served our parishioners and the nuns who taught us or our children. With each memory, perhaps you can attach a prayer of thanks for those whose lives of prayer and service nurtured us spiritually. Perhaps you will express your gratitude with written words, spoken words, or words uttered in silent prayers. However you choose, think to thank those religious who have been a blessing to so many.
REMINDER:
The Office of Multicultural Diversity (Catholics of
African Ancestry and the Haitian American
Apostolate) of the Diocese of Rockville Centre
announces the 34th Annual Anniversary Mass of
Thanksgiving in honor of Black History Month at
St. Agnes Cathedral, 29 Quealy Place, Rockville
Centre on Saturday, February 7, at 2:00 PM. It is
significant to note that the date of the Mass is the
eve of the feast of St. Josephine Bakhita. The
principal celebrant will be Most Reverend Andrzej
Zglejszewski. The homilist and concelebrant will
be Rev. Maurice J. Nutt, C.Ss.R., D. Min.

May our Merciful Lord grant them healing.
Let us all remember to…
In the harsh winter months, let us also remember the
elderly and the homebound with our prayers and acts of
caring. Scripture Reflection: Moses told
the people, “A prophet like me
will the Lord, your God, raise up
for you from among your own
kinsmen.” God still provides
among His people the gifts and
talents necessary to continue the work of His
Church. What gifts are yours to share?
Living Stewardship: We are grateful this week
for all stewards in our parish who set time aside
with the Sunday Readings throughout the week
so as to be better prepared to hear the Word of
God and act on it.
Let us pray that, as confident stewards, we will
tell others about Jesus, the Living Word of God,
without fear or hesitation.

Wedding pictures, First Holy Communion pictures, pictures from church parties or bazaars, church group pictures– this is just a sampling of the photos that would be welcome. If you have a photo, please submit it in an envelope with your name and phone number. Please include a note indicating the event or group shown in the photo. If you know the year in which it was taken, that would be great! You may bring the picture to the church office any weekday or drop it off during the open hours of the parish thrift shop. Please call the rectory office if you have any questions. Thank you!
