Statement of Augusta Dowd

Prosecutors are once again trying to mislead the public, using cherry-picked

emails as part of an ongoing, calculated attempt to smear Mr. Hubbard. This

abuse of the legal process is no surprise, coming from prosecutors whose

stated intention is to ruin Mr. Hubbard politically even if they cannot convict

him in a court of law.

The prosecutors’ position about Mr. Hubbard’s conduct runs contrary tonumerous opinions handed down by the Ethics Commission and to the plain

language of the Ethics Act, which by its terms seeks to afford public officials

like Mr. Hubbard the opportunity, available to all other citizens, to acquire

and retain private economic interests. We will continue to vehemently defend

Mr. Hubbard against these unfounded and improper attacks. We look

forward to the opportunity to present the facts in the proper forum.
