INGREDIENTS Pizza Dough: Bread flour (250g) Salt (1 teaspoon) Sugar (1 teaspoon) Yeast (3.5g) Lukewarm water (160ml) Virgin olive oil (1
tablespoon)
Pizza Topping: Cheese (preferably
mozzarella or parmesan) Tomato sauce or tomato
concentrate Optional- Another topping
of your choice (mushrooms, pineapple, ham)
Optional- Basil leaves
*For two pizzas
EQUIPMENT Rolling pin Measuring spoons Scale Fork Bowl Baking tray Measuring cup/jug Pizza cutter/wheel Cloth Oven
STEP 1 Prepare pizza ingredients and equipment Clean working space (table), and wash hands with
soap.
*Don’t wear nail polish when making pizza, as the colour comes off while kneading the dough
STEP 2 Measure all ingredients to
exact amount (see ingredients slide)
*When measuring the yeast and flour, put the measuring cup on the scale before turning it on
STEP 3 Warm the water (160ml) to 37˚c
37˚c
STEP 4 Sieve the flour and salt in a bowl to make sure
there are no lumps Make a well in the middle
STEP 5 Mix the yeast, olive oil and sugar with the water in a
jug
*The yeast will start to foam after 4-5 minutes
STEP 6 After the yeast foams, pour the yeast into the
well
STEP 7 Mix the flour and yeast well Bring the flour in from the sides, and swirl it into the
liquid Add small amount of flour at time, so the dough won’t
become too sticky or too dry
*Use one hand to mix the flour and yeast, and keep the other hand clean to add flour if needed
STEP 8 Knead the dough (this
takes lots of strength) Pull the dough out, then
pull it back Knead until the dough’s
soft, smooth and springy
*When you touch/poke the dough, it should bounce back
STEP 9 Use a damp cloth to the cover the dough, make
sure there’s no water left in the cloth Leave the dough to prove for about an hour in a
warm place
* “Prove” means to leave it to grow
STEP 10 After an hour, take the dough out and knead it around
to push the air out
*This process is called “knock the air out”
STEP 11 Add flour to the table and the rolling pin Use the rolling pin to roll out the dough into shape Sprinkle the dough with flour, make sure the surface
is even with no holes
*The yeast is still growing when you’re rolling the dough out
STEP 12 Use a tablespoon of oil and oil the baking tray Roll the dough onto the baking tray
STEP 13 Use a fork to poke the dough after it’s on the baking
tray
* This lets the air out
STEP 14 Put the dough in the oven to crisp the crust This only takes about 5 minutes
STEP 15 Spread the tomato sauce
on the base
*Mark out the crust
STEP 16 Add the cheese by
sprinkling it over the tomato sauce
Add any other topping of your choice over the cheese
STEP 17 Preheat the oven 10 minutes before baking pizza Set the oven to around 200˚c Bake your pizza
*Be careful not to overcook!
STEP 18 Take your pizza out of the oven when it’s
ready Slice up your pizza using the pizza
cutter/wheel or a knife
