Steps Services Can Take to Prepare Families for NDIS Plan

The Project…Aim: 1. In a table, collate the steps services need to take, in what order and when,

and the resources that currently exist to help services prepare clients and families for an NDIS plan

2. Identify resource gaps and tailor resources for respite services

• Began the ‘Services Preparing Families’ project with a working party: Two trial site services (Barwon and Hunter) Two non-trial site services ARAFMI NSW Carers NSW

Findings: Steps Services Can Take Generally1. Understand the language of the NDIS:

1. Keep an eye out for workshops and sessions that you can share in your organisation’s bulletin

2. Create a new role within the organization for an NDIS Liaison Officer or similar who can assist families to prepare and understand supports.

3. Arrange phone or face to face meetings with clients and families:
