Golf season is in full swing.
For the new members, review the tour-nament schedule on cards available in the Pro Shop. This gives you a great op-portunity to play with and meet existing members of the Club. For our existing members, we should try and play in more tournaments than in the prior year. It seems the number of members playing in the tournaments has decreased in the last few years. If you do want to play, please express your concerns to the Pro Shop. If we do not know the reason, the Club can-not institute the changes that may make you want to play in future events.
Please note the dates of member guest tournaments set throughout the summer. It is a good way to bring guests (business or personal) to the club and show off our course and facility.
The annual stockholders meeting is set for June 10th with a 7:00 PM start. If you have any questions or concerns to the Board this is your chance to speak to us and also Scott Wunder, Jeff Zachman and Dan Taylor. Please cast your ballots when they arrive for your choices of members on the new board.
Remember, you can always email ques-tions to the Board hotline boardhotline@pineybranchgolf.com. I can assure you that all postings to this site are reviewed and discussed.

Service Charge ExplanationDue to the fluctuation in the amount of business that the Duffer’s Club experi-ences, it is necessary for us to pay our staff a higher wage than a typical server would make at a public restaurant. This fluctua-tion in business does not allow for our staff to make a consistently comparable wage to that of a server at a public restaurant and makes attracting and retaining staff more challenging. The service charge was put in place to subsidize this higher paid wage and because of that, we DO NOT require tipping. The total service charge that the Club receives from its members and outside events is put directly towards this higher wage that we pay our staff. Because of this, it is NOT mandatory that our members tip the staff. It is completely up to your discretion whether or not you would like to tip the staff. Tips collected are shared between the staff working that particular shift.

up in the golf shop the day of the event. If you would like to sponsor a hole, the form is enclosed. All contributions are appreciated. Think spring, we hope to see everyone again soon.

18 Hole LadiesOn Wednesday, April 2nd the 18-Hole La-dies group met at the Club for our Season Opening Coffee and Annual Ice Breaker Putting Contest.
The Officers and Committee leaders were introduced. Copies of the By-laws, weekly schedule of play, point system, and Metro play days were handed out to members.
Ladies Spring Invitational flyers were pre-sented by Betty Fanshaw and Edie Tracey. The theme is — Golf For The Gold. Betty reported flyers are posted in the Pro Shop and are available in the Ladies Lounge.
Dan and Linda provided a lovely presenta-tion for our Coffee and after enjoying our breakfast and socializing we all moved with putters in hand to meet the challeng-ing course designed by our Assistant Pro, Chris. Congratulations to Nancy Gailey who aced a number of holes to capture 1st place. Claire McDonough inched out Dotty Carpenter in a putt-off for second place.
Finally on April 9, Mother Nature cooper-ated and we did play on our opening day of play. However, the next Wednesday was like Winter returned. Oh well, better days are ahead.
Upcoming EventsSpring Invitational – May 14, 2014 (Rain-date - May 21, 2014). Flyers are available
in the Pro Shop, Ladies Lounge, newslet-ter and the website. Format - Two Lady Team - Best Ball of Twosome. Partner with anyone with a handicap max. USGA Index 40.4. Golf Talk“The short game is such a touch and feel part of golf that you need to leave your senses open to feeling what your eyes are telling you.” Judy Rankin - twice Player of the Year.

Message From the GMIt has been rather refreshing to see some fa-miliar faces at the Club in the last month. The weather has made a turn for the better and the season finally feels like it has of-ficially started. The maintenance crew has been doing a fantastic job cleaning up the course from the winter damage and prep-ping everything for play. In another week or two the course should be at its peak con-dition and should stay that way for the re-mainder of the season. I hope to see you on the course soon.
Piney Branch Mobile Phone AppDue to the low volume of use on our phone app for the Club, we will be discontinuing the app starting May 1st. One thing that we will NOT be doing away with is the daily course conditions via Twitter. If you follow us on Twitter you will still be able to see the daily course conditions. You can also go to our website for a link to the daily course conditions. All other aspects of the phone app should be accessible through the use of
our mobile ready main website, such as the club calendar and the hours of operation.
The Piney Branch FORETimes are changing at the Club and with the change in technology and the push for everything to be online, we will be discon-tinuing the written monthly FORE starting in the month of June. By the use of track-ing analytics we have noticed that the vast majority of our followers at the Club are viewing the EBLAST on a weekly basis and less and less every month are viewing the FORE. This is the main reason why we are planning to eliminate the FORE and stick with what works best for us. If you or your groups are a contributor to the FORE you will still have the ability to post your information on a monthly basis through our Eblast. All information will be sent to Debbie Wooden by the 20th of each month and a more in-depth Eblast will be sent out on the first Monday of every month. 1959. Again, our thought process behind
this change is that we would prefer to be great at one thing instead of mediocre at two things. We hope you enjoy the change and please let us know if we can help in any way. If you do not receive the EBLAST please go to our website in the “members section” and you can enter your email on the first page of this section. The username for the members section is: 4102397115, password: greatgolf
In the near future we are also going to be looking at options of online billing and statements at the Club as well as an up-grading our Club website. We have also just recently enhanced our efforts on our FACEBOOK page. If you are on Face-book, go to our page, “Piney Branch Golf Club” and LIKE US. You will be able to get up-to-date information on what’s happen-ing at the Club on a daily basis. We hope you enjoy the changes that are happening at the Club and we hope to see you soon.
Scott Wunder General Manager/GC Superintendent
