Storyline Online features videos of well-known actors reading quality children’s literature aloud.

Actors like: Betty White, Tia and Tamara Mowry, Amanda Bynes, Elijah Wood, among others.

What are the benefits?

Storyline Online is user friendly. It makes reading fun for yong ESL students. It helps provides auditory input as well as written

words and visual images of the story. It uses the Internet so students can read the stories

at home. Each book comes with accompanying activities,

lesson ideas for teachers, and the story in a printable (.pdf) format.

What are the drawbacks?

The speed at which the stories are being read may be too fast for low proficiency ESL students.

Unfortunately, if you do not have an internet connection, you cannot use the program.

Conclusion

Storyline Online is an excellent resource for ESL teachers because it is specifically designed to increase literacy and bring the excitement of books back into the classroom (or even home) taking into consideration today’s technological generation.
