Press Release

Strategic Planning Workshop for Small Properties

On February 24, 2015 the Ministry of Tourism, Heritage and Creative Industries, in

collaboration with the Saint Lucia Tourist Board and Saint Lucia Hotel Association, will

continue their effort to provide capacity building training that will enhance the overall

competitiveness of the Small Hotel sector. The owners and operators of small properties

will participate in a “hands-on” exercise in Strategic Planning. It is envisaged that

participants will use this training to critically evaluate their operations and develop

strategies to strengthen their product offering.

This training will be held at Palm Haven, Gros Islet and forms part of a programme of

activities designed to develop the small hotel sector. The partner agencies are cognizant of

the invaluable contribution of this subsector to the product offering, and the need to

enhance its capacity to continuously develop competitive products and deliver quality

service. They have secured the services of experienced facilitators who will provide the

information necessary to enhance skills set of participants.

Small properties (defined by a room stock of 75 rooms or less) are encouraged to register for

this training as it forms part of Recognition Ceremony designed to reward small hotels for

their efforts in Innovation, providing an Authentic Experience and recognition for the Most

Outstanding Small Property.

For more information on this training initiative, contact may be made with Ms Perle

Alcindor, Tourism Officer III at telephone 468-4625, email perle.alcindor@govt.lc
