St. Pio Intercessory Prayer Ministry
Come join us after Mass in the church and experience the Holy Spirit at work. Prayer teams are available after all weekend Masses. Intercessory prayer is a prayer that pleads with God for your needs and the needs of others. Often the problems we face seem too big for us. No matter how much we try, we cannot solve them on our own. It's times like these when we need to turn to the Lord in intercessory prayers.
St. Pio Marriage Enrichment
St. Pio Parish "Beloved Mar-riage Enrichment" classes will be held for those married couples who seek to have
Christ at the center of their mar-riage. Please join us for our monthly clas-ses ending May 21st. All classes are from
7-8:30 pm and meet in the conference room.
Book for class “Beloved Couples Guide- Marriage Enrichment” available for

My favorite scripture is The Road to Emmaus found in Luke 24:13-35. In this Gospel, Jesus meets two disciples walk-ing to the town of Emmaus. The disci-ples had heard of the empty tomb, but they did not fully understand its mean-ing. When Jesus begins his journey with them, they tell Jesus all about the events in Jerusalem. As they walked, Jesus spoke to them about the scriptures and their meaning, and still they do not recog-nize him. Upon arriving in Emmaus, they invited Jesus to stay with them. At supper, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it and gave it to His disciples and their eyes were opened. We, too can be like the disciples as they left Jerusalem. They had lost faith. When we lose faith, we don’t see all that God has to offer. We often miss seeing Jesus in others as well. Do we see Jesus in ALL we meet? As Catholics, we have the privilege to enter into a union with Jesus, present to us in the Eucharist. It is there that we meet Jesus. It is where our eyes are opened! Jesus is always waiting for us, but it is up to us to invite him into our hearts. The disciples finally recognized Jesus because he is truly present in the break-ing of the bread – body, blood, soul and divinity in the Eucharist. Like the disciples, we sometimes fail to recognize Jesus in His word, in His sacra-ments and in the people He places in our lives. Where will you find Jesus in your life?

Help Ensure the Future of The Cemetery
When you pick up your 2020 envelopes, you will notice that we have added four envelopes that are ear marked for the Sacred Heart Cemetery Perpetual Fund. The Sacred Heart Cemetery provides a final resting place to those who have passed. We present a respectful and dig-nified environment for those who visit our cemetery to celebrate the memory of a loved one. These additional collections will help us to ensure that that Sacred Heart Cem-etery continues to provide a dignified environment for now and for years to come.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR! Only Two Weeks to Register
Advent by Candlelight
IS THERE A STAR IN YOUR EYE
Sunday, December 1st - 6:00 PM
As we once again get caught up in the many preparations of the Christmas sea-son, we need to take time to prepare our hearts for our Lord’s coming. Therefore, you are all invited to join us for “Advent by Candlelight,” which is a beautiful TIME of Scripture, music, and fellowship. This year's theme “IS THERE A STAR IN YOUR EYE”? NOTE: This year Advent by Candlelight will not be a potluck. Instead of a meal, we are having dessert and hot/cold bever-ages. We will not need table hosts. EVE-RYONE IS INVITED, but RESERVA-TIONS are needed. We will begin our celebration in church for our Prayer Service which includes wreath lighting, a skit and a prayer ser-vice. After, we will gather in the Social Hall for fellowship and dessert. If you wish to attend, please call Angie Ventimiglio 586-293-8166 to make reser-vations. DEADLINE IS NOVEMBER 24TH. PLEASE DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST DAY! Looking forward to another successful year of preparing for the birth of the Christ Child.
A special blessing for our Veterans.
Thank you for your service.

Music Notes
I’ve been reviewing lately the Ordinary of the Mass to see
what we could use in the future here at St. Pio. There are five sections: Lord Have Mercy (Kyrie), Gloria, Nicene Creed, Holy Holy Holy (Sanctus), and the Lamb Of God (Agnus Dei). Many famous com-posers contributed these works in their repertory. I like to use a mass that flows nicely, isn’t too complicated, is memora-ble for the congregation, and is fairly teachable to our choir. There seems to be hundreds out there and some very good ones too. Our Glory & Praise books have some quality compositions too. We cur-rently use the Mass of Glory which I real-ly enjoy. I would like to change this up in the New Year smoothly. I’ve been part of a congregation where different music has been tried after hearing a familiar mass for a long time. It seems to be very foreign-sounding initially but eventually become familiar sounding and well-liked. If you are at mass on weekdays keep a keen ear out; I may just be trying out a new Ordi-nary of the Mass. Have a great week.

Christian Service
Prayers of thanksgiving are proclaimed throughout the
Bible. In 1 Chronicles 16:7-36, we are shown through David’s song and excel-lent example of four elements included in true thanksgiving: Remembering what God has done for us. Telling other about it. Showing God’s glory to others. Offering gifts of ourselves, our time, and our resources. Of the 150 psalms, David wrote 73 of them. This collection of prayers and songs express the heartfelt feelings from deep within his soul. In them, we can read prayers of thanks for answered prayer, deliverance from difficulties, God’s greatness, His protection, His en-during mercy, and never-ending love. God provides all those things for us still today.
