• Night and day are determined by the Sun's presence in the sky. As Earth rotates, the portion of the planet that is illuminated by the Sun experiences day while the portion that faces away from the Sun experiences night.

• As observed from most locations on Earth, the Sun appears to rise in the east and set in the west every day.

• Information of sunrise and sunset of the Northern Hemisphere from http://www.nettrekker.com/ and http://www.teachersdomain.org/resources/ess05/sci/ess/eiu/riseset/index.html

• The earth rotates from east to west: that's the reason the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. So that fact doesn't change if you're observing sunrises/sunsets in the southern hemisphere.

• Information from: http://madsci.org/posts/archives/2000-08/965772564.As.r.html

In conclusion, you know that the sun rises and sets in the same place in both the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere.
