Dear Parents,
Located in Lyndhurst, Sunview Elementary School provides high quality education to students in Kindergarten through Third Grade. Our goal is to ensure that all students possess a strong foundation for future success academically and beyond the classroom. To achieve this goal, we rely on strong educational
values and promoting partnerships between our families and staff to support our students.
The goal of the Sunview staff is to provide educational experiences that will inspire a love of learning, promote academic excellence and develop the interests and talents of our students. To that end, we begin our focus on the individual child, while referencing the Ohio State Standards and blending in the knowledge and expertise of an innovative faculty. Our staff also participates in regular professional development opportunities to ensure that they apply engaging and effective instructional practices.
A visit to Sunview will demonstrate that learning happens in a variety of ways. Along with teacher instruction, students work collaboratively and have access to the latest technology to enhance their learning. This includes our ongoing 1:1 technology initiative which provides Chromebooks for all students in Grades 2-3 and available for use by small groups for students in Kindergarten and First Grade. Differentiated instruction ensures that each student’s individual learning needs are met in the classroom, including special needs and gifted students.
Clubs and other co-curricular opportunities are an important part of student life at Sunview, as they help to cultivate leadership, creativity and a sense of connection to the school community. From MAC Ambassadors to our PTA Star Readers Program, students at Sunview can participate in a wide variety of co-curricular opportunities and clubs.
Parents and community partners are essential contributors to student success and growth at Sunview. Our PTA boasts strong attendance and is active in pursuing initiatives that support student learning. Our community partners provide our students support in many different areas, including literacy and mentoring opportunities.
I encourage you to learn more about the curriculum, programs and “Sunview experience” featured in this brochure. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact my office to schedule an appointment to visit our awesome school and learn ‘in-person’ what we provide to students. Your support of the SEL Schools is deeply appreciated and contributes to our mission to become “The Destination School District.”
