Superstitions can be defined as, "irrational beliefs, especially with regard to the unknown"

Breaking a Mirror:

According to Roman tradition, why seven years of bad luck for a broken mirror?It comes from an old Roman belief that every seven years, you're literally a new person.

Be careful with the mirror. Breaking a mirror brings bad luck even for the next 7 years.

Walking Under a Ladder

American superstition - never walk under a ladder. It may be bad luck for you.
