• The Synonyms and Antonyms form an integral part of the English Language. Acquaintance with the vocabulary of the English language is a necessity for effective expression either in the written or in the oral from.

Synonym

• Synonym is nothing but the similar meaning of a particular word or its semantic relation. So , it is a word or a phrase that means the same as another word or a phrase in the same language.

Examples • noun– "student" and "pupil"– "petty crime" and "misdemeanor"

• verb – "buy" and "purchase"

• adjective – "sick" and "ill"

• adverb – "quickly" and "speedily"

• preposition – "on" and "upon"

• An idiom is a phrase where the words together have a meaning that is different from the dictionary definitions of the individual words,

• Moreover, an idiom is an expression, word, or phrase whose sense means something different from what the words literally imply.

• When a speaker uses an idiom, the listener might mistake its actual meaning, if he or she has not heard this figure of speech before Idioms usually do not translate well; in some cases, when an idiom is translated into another language, either its meaning is changed or it is meaningless.

5. Dress to kill - Wear one's finest clothes. Ex. - You are dressed to kill today, your fiancee will marry you today itself.
