Tasmanian Island Ark - landscape restoration
Join us on this free bus tour to visit some key sites in the Greening Australia
Midlands Restoration Project. This is a long-term landscape-scale environmental
restoration initiative designed to increase connectivity and biodiversity in the
Northern Midlands, an area with a long history of agricultural production.
The tour will include:
• Property visit at Chiswick; Macquarie River riparian restoration work -
currently the largest riverine revegetation project in Australia.
• Property visit at Connorville; Restoration of grassy woodland in production
systems, direct seeding, native grasses, seed provenance and plant
association trials, browser control methods (including deer).
• Plenty of opportunities to chat with NRM South and Greening Australia staff
and learn more about landscape planning, connectivity, habitat for animals,
climate change, species selection, seed provenance, native grasses,
aboriginal history, art collaboratives and educational initiatives.
Places are limited, please RSVP by 22nd October. For further information or to RSVP, contact: Holly Hansen - 0428 259 156; hhansen@nrmsouth.org.au Ruth Osborne - 0438 834 553; rosborne@nrmsouth.org.au
