ASSEMBLY BILL 2040• Amends Government Code sections 12463 and 53892 to

mandate disclosure of the compensation of school and special district elected officials, officers and employees.

• Starting January 1, 2015, these agencies will have new reporting and internet posting requirements to provide the public with easy access to this compensation information

• Examples of the types of compensation that must be disclosed include: Salary, and sick leave, health and retirement benefits

provided by CDSS2. Provide training within the first 6 weeks of each

1. General Training Module - up to 4 hours self paced2. Educators Professional Module - up to 2 hours self

paced - Final test must be taken and passed at 80% or higher (must take General Training Module First)

CA PAID SICK LEAVE LAW - AB 1522

1. Provide Sick Leave to those Employees that are not currently covered under an Agreement/Policy

2. Employees are entitled to earn sick leave after 30 days of employment & use paid sick leave after 90 days of employment

Options:A. Accrual/Carry Over: provide 1 hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked.

Must carry over to the next yearB. 3 Days 24 hour Cap: Employer provides the 3 day 24 hour cap at the

beginning of the year school year. No accrual or carryover is required if full amount of leave is received at the beginning of the school year

3. Must post new law by January 1, 2015

4. Employer must provide written notice of sick leave balances on an itemized wage statement or in a separate writing provided in the employees paycheck.

5. Establish Advisory Committee to work through this legislation.

The SELPA needs to conduct a Strategic Planning process to address many changes that have taken place and prepare for the future of the SELPA. The results of this planning process will be used to rewrite our local plan, which has not been updated since 2004/05. Chris King has agreed to facilitate this process.
