b) PLACE OF IDENTIFICATION ON CONTAINERS
1) The numbers and letters should be 10 cm in height, according to ISO standard 6346. They are
sprayed on in black on a clearly outlined white text field (2 coats to provide sufficient
coverage). We do not use letter stickers as the paint is more resistant to heat or rain.
2) The JDN number and the full CSC number (i.e. including the four-digit prefix) are to be
mentioned on each of the four surfaces.
a. The JDN number is always painted on the left side of the container
i. without spacing
ii. with a hyphen in case of WS, DN, ZL, SL or FL numbers
b. The CSC number is always painted on the right side of the container.
i. without spacing
ii. without a hyphen
3) The white text fields which are attached to the beam for this purpose cover the full width of
the beam, start from the edge of the container and run 148cm to the bottom (just above the
third hinge of the container door)

4) The JDN sticker is applied in the left upper corner of each field.
5) In case of closed containers the CSC number is also sprayed onto the roof.
6) The identification is always applied vertically,
a. except at the side where the container
doors are situated
b. unless it is easier to apply them
horizontally due to the ribbed profile
of the container.

7) On the container doors the location of the white fields depends on the type of container. See
example in the photo:
a. left: JDN number
i. spread over two lines for MOB numbers (MOB + the four digits on the
second line)
ii. spread over two lines and with a hyphen for WS, DN, SL, ZL or FL numbers
(e.g. WS + WS serial number and on the second line a hyphen + 3 digits)
b. Left door between the bars: JDN sticker
c. Right door between the bars: letters of the CSC number
d. Right: numbers of the CSC number
8) In case of collapsible flatrack
containers the CSC number is
to be applied horizontally at
the bottom side, so the
number is visible when
folded. But in accordance
with other containers the
number is to be applied on
the right beam, as well.
