(b) At the date of approval of this order, the order nr. 3916/2004 will be revoked.

Article 2. National Council for Curriculum, Counties Departments of Education, High school directions will execute this order.

DECIDES THE FOLLOWING:

Article 1. “Racism, Xenophobia, Anti-Semitism – Educational Problems; Holocaust.” The teacher training course is accredited for “Grigore Tabacaru” Teacher Training Center .

Article 2. This course will have thirty professional transferable credits.

Article3. “Grigore Tabacaru” Teacher Training Center will execute this order.

Article 4. This decision is communicated to “Grigore Tabacaru” Teacher Training Center.

Long Life Learning Program for History Teachers about Teaching the History of Romanian Jews - the

Holocaust (Shoah)

Racism, Xenophobia, Anti-Semitism – Educational Problems; The Holocaust.

Project Justification

ARGUMENTS FOR THIS IN-TRAINING COURSE:

- The need to form, on a national level, a number of teachers in the secondary education that should obtain, at the end of this in-training program, the position of national trainers . - The choice made by the teachers of history and social sciences , that has been identified starting from the input analysis on the national, local, institutional level.

THE INPUT ANALYSIS: In 2003, the Ministry of Education and Research tested the teachers’ motivation about such courses. The questionnaire, made up of four questions, was handed out to the history teachers. A number of 5-10 high-schools have been selected from each county. A three-question questionnaire has been distributed to the students: in the end, one or two classes have been selected out of one or two high-schools from the county capital. The results are in favor of this course, on both county and national levels. For the first module about 25-30 history teachers are expected, from both countryside and cities. The outcome in percentage can be found at DGIP (the Ministry of Education and Research). The in-training program supplier himself, who attended in-training methodology and didactical courses about teaching the Holocaust in Romanian schools (the “Babes-Bolyai” University of Cluj Napoca, the Faculty of History, the “Moshe Carmilly” Institute of Judaic Studies and Jewish History, 120 hours, 2001-2002); the international seminar for teachers and educators, “Auschwitz, a Complex Symbol. Education at the memorial site” (Poland, 40 hours, 2001);
