At LexisNexis we believe that it is vital that we play a positive role in both local and global
communities. This means that while we strive for excellence in providing content and
technology solutions to professionals, we feel it is equally as important to support our
employees, so that they can help improve the lives of others and the communities in which
they are involved.
LexisNexis is dedicated to playing a positive role in our local and global communities, primarily through employee involvement. Anti-human
trafficking initiatives, form the core of our corporate social responsibility programme and are underpinned by our global commitment to
helping to uphold the rule of law.
Annually over 200 LexisNexis South Africa employees take part in our Cares Day. The program called LN Cares, and is aimed at encouraging employee volunteerism and giving back to our community. Over the years the project has grown in leaps and bounds.
Project overview.
This year LexisNexis will be hosting a cycling charity event as part of our LN Cares Day
initiative. This road cycling initiative will see LN employees cycle from Drakensburg to Durban.
The aim is to raise money for the following identified charities:
-Mercy House: Johannesburg-Open Door Crisis Centre: Durban and-MoloShongololo: Cape Town
We are proud to offer sponsorship opportunities to individuals and corporate that would like to lend a helping hand.

The event is to take place from Drakensburg to Durban, over a period of 3 days. All cyclists will stay
overnight at various locations for the duration of the cycling.

The 3rd day will culminate at the Morningside Primary grounds where all LexisNexis employees will be there to welcome our heroes. Please refer to attached cycling route and accommodation locations.
About the beneficiaries. Mercy House.
Mercy House provides transitional housing for female victims of
domestic violence and their children.
Women are trained to acquire the necessary skills need to be economic independent. Many of the women are HIV+ and are provided with good nutrition and free counselling services. Female victims of human trafficking are also offered safe shelter while awaiting repatriation.
About the beneficiaries. Open Door Crisis Centre.
The Open Door Crisis Care Centre based in Pinetown Kwazulu-Natal is a well-established
counselling, training and advisory centre. It is a safe haven where people across all sectors of
the community can find compassion, understanding and assistance when they need
it most – in times of crisis.
Operating from two tiny storerooms at the request of the local South African Police Services in an attempt to combat the effects of rape, domestic violence and crime related incidents.The Open Door Crisis Care Centre’s growth has been phenomenal. To date, the Open Door Crisis Care Centre operates from a 30 roomed house which includes an HIV/AIDS clinic, play therapy room for traumatised children, training room, office space and 10 counselling rooms.
Molo Songololo has been working to promote the rights and protection of all children for more than 30 years.
The organization was founded in 1979, and is recognized as a leading participant concerning the rights and protection of children in South Africa.
In 2000 Molo Songololo released the first report that put the spotlight on trafficking in children in South Africa. This pioneering report focused on trafficking in children for purposes of sexual exploitation.
