INTRODUCTION
It is our pleasure to welcome you to the Unit of Community Health (former Department of Health Visitors) of the Department of Public Health and Community Health of the Faculty of Health & Caring Professions (S.E.Y.P.) of the Technological Educational Institute of Athens TEI-A). The undergraduate program you have chosen to attend has been lately updated after the merging of the Departments of Public Health and Health Visitors under the aforementioned new Department of Public Health and Community Health during 2013.
The new course of study was modulated according to the standards of similar and contextual courses of study which are taught in academic institutions abroad, mainly in countries where the profession of Health Visitor (H.V.), as a key element in the structure of the Community and Public Health Care setting, enjoys high esteem and recognition for its contribution. The course of study incorporates a strong inter-scientific approach and intends for the students to acquire the necessary scientific qualifications, knowledge and skills, that will allow them to understand and deepen into the multidimensional disciplines of prevention and health promotion of individuals, families and the wider community.
