Library Technology Forecast for 2014 and Beyond

• Libraries will pursue new opportunities for strategic cooperation to help strengthen their impact on their communities

• Sharing automation infrastructure promises to lower technology costs per participating library and to increase the resources available to their patrons.

• Examples – the shared infrastructure for the 37 colleges and universities of

the Orbis Cascade Alliance and– the 2CUL initiative between Cornell University Library and

Columbia University Libraries for collaborative technical services and collection management

– Sierra from Innovative Interfaces,
