The Exalted Ruler’s Message
My fellow Brothers and Sisters, I am honored that the membership has placed your trust in me and elected me to serve as your Exalted Ruler for the 2012-2013 year. For the 9 years I have been a member, I have always found our Lodge as a place to be with good friends and have fun times as well to accomplish things for the good of others. In the next year, we have some significant challenges as a Lodge and as a business.
One of the most significant challenges we have before us to build the interest and increase the participation of our newest members who will be looked upon to carry our organization on and pave the way to the future. Thus I am calling this the “Year of Excitement and Involvement.” I will look to each of the members to help nurture and mentor the members who have yet to catch the volunteering bug, and come to the Lodge as merely a place to party, or become members and then seldom come to the Lodge at all. We all need to reach out to these folks, as I firmly believe that once they feel the great feeling of doing for others, they will be hooked just as Pam and I have. Also I want to reinvigorate the long term members that have been here for many years and have started to become complacent, thinking that someone else needs to take over, and I will ask the PER Association to lead the way here. I am going to challenge every member of this Lodge with what I call my “1-1-1 Challenge” which is to
1) Challenge every member to attend 1 meeting during the next year 2) Challenge every member to participate in 1 activity even if it to attend an
envelope stuffing party or make phone calls 3) Challenge every member to introduce 1 new person to the Lodge (and introduce
is the key word, for some of those people introduced may decide to become members.)
For those members who do volunteer, I’m going to ask you to “blow your own horn” about how many hours you give in a contest to see who volunteers the most by the end of my term as ER! As we start this new voyage, I want to thank my fellow officers, the trustees, and the PER Association for their dedication to their offices, and ahead of time for the support they will provide in the year to come. If at any time you have a concern or a suggestion, I want you to feel free to contact me or any of my officers at any time. I also encourage you to come to the Governing Board meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of every month or to speak up at the general meetings. Again, I thank you all for your faith in me, let’s move ahead and “Kick it up a notch” and have an fantastic year ….!!!
Fraternally Yours,
Gary Poirier, Exalted Ruler

IMPORTANT BAR POLICIES
As the Bar Trustee, I would like to remind our members
about practices that must be observed.
When we rent the main hall out for an external event, the
bar services we provide will be billed using external drink
prices. Any member attending that event will be charged the
external prices which are in effect as well. We cannot segre-
gate members from non-members at the event.
Members who go to the members bar will be charged
member prices. However, once a beverage is purchased in the
member bar it MUST be consumed fully within the confines
of the member bar or the Moisan/Victor room. It is not to be
brought back into the main hall. The bar stewards need to be
able to control and be aware of the alcohol consumption by an
individual.
There may be circumstances where we have something in
the member bar which is not offered in the main hall. If the
bar steward on duty is asked, they may go to the member bar
to get the desired drink and bring it out directly themselves
for the requesting member, but the bar steward must be in-
volved with this transaction.
PLEASE FOLLOW THESE RULES
DURING EXTERNAL EVENTS!
Thank you,
Rick Boucher, PER, Trustee
BLOW YOUR
OWN HORN!
ATTENTION VOLUNTEERS! During the next
year you will see a new box at the lodge. I am
asking that all members who volunteer to tell me
how many hours they give to the lodge.
Each month these hours will be recorded and in
March 2013, a prize for the most hours will be
rewarded.
** Enjoy blowing your own horn **

ELDOES
CORNER
“No act of kindness, no matter how
small, is ever wasted.”
“Swing into Spring Dinner Dance” tickets are still available at
the member bar at a cost of $18 a person. It will be a fun evening
including a costume contest as well as special dances led by Wes
and Sally Blair. Plan to attend even if you are not a dancer. You can
enjoy a good meal, pleasant conversation, and an evening out. Don’t
forget that we will also be selling tickets for our raffle basket full of
goodies.
Now that spring seems to be around the corner we are starting
our annual Spring Raffle. This fundraiser costs $10 a ticket and in-
cludes drawings every week for ten weeks. The final drawing will
take place at our Installation Dinner.
As you do your spring house cleaning, keep us in mind. We will
need to add to our collection of jewelry for this fall’s craft bazaar.
Necklaces, watches, rings, bracelets, and earrings (in good
condition) are especially needed. If you have items to donate, plan
to bring them to our April meeting and we will put them aside. We
appreciate all contributions as our jewelry table is always popular!
Our April meeting is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. This
month we will elect officers for the coming year. Hostesses are
Marion Howard, Marilyn Luchini, and Mary McMaster.
April birthdays include the following Eldoes: our newest mem-
ber Gail Forcier, Pauline LaFramboise, Connie Leccese, Ruth
Martel, and Elaine Neary. Happy Birthday to all of you! Oops – it
looks like I forgot to add Linda Belisle to our January birthday list.
Linda, you can use your birthday discount in April instead. Sorry
about that!
We want to take this opportunity to thank PER Craig Garrand
for working with us this past year and to congratulate the newly
elected Exalted Ruler, Gary Poirier, and his suite of officers on their
recent installation.
Take care,
