Charlotte’s Guide to the ABCs

League Gothic is a revival of an old classic, and one of our favorite typefaces, Alter-nate Gothic No.1. It was originally designed by Morris Fuller Benton for the Ameri-can Type Founders Company (ATF) in 1903. The company went bankrupt in 1993. And since the original typeface was created before 1923, the typeface is in the public domain.

We decided to make our own version, and contribute it to the Open Source Type Movement. It’s free, not only in price, but in freedom.

Linden Hill is a digital version of Frederic Goudy’s Deepdene. The package includes roman and italic. The current version is 1.2.

The fonts normally come with a very liberal MIT-style license, but for the League of Movable Type you may also consider them licensed under the OFL, without a re-served font name. My intention with the MIT-style licensing is that people should modify and redistribute under whatever more restrictive license they prefer.
