Term 1 Week 6
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
It was great to see so many families at our
‘Meet The Teacher’ information session last
week. We really value all our parental support
and look forward to our continued partnership
throughout the year.
The Kindergarten classes have settled in
quickly and are already engaged in learning like
experienced ‘big school’ kids. Congratulations to
their teachers Mrs Spratt, Mrs Hodgson, Mrs
Smith, Ms Shearer and Mrs Filipinski whose
outstanding organisation, management and care
has allowed the kindergarten students a happy
and successful transition to Elderslie Public
School.
Congratulations to the students for being great
listeners and trying hard. Thank you also to all
kindergarten parents who have ensured the
children are at school on time, with all their
belongings labelled. Parents have allowed the
children to show independence by a ‘kiss and
drop’ strategy, which ensures a positive and
productive start to the day.
We understand that leaving your child at school
can be worrying at times, especially if you are a
‘new’ parent. I can assure you, they are in very
good and caring hands and that they are smiling
and engaged the minute you leave the grounds!
Kind Regards
Melissa Clarke
Relieving Principal
Last Monday Mr Mark Peters was successful
through an application process in gaining the
position as Relieving Deputy Principal at Oxley
Public School for 2017. I would like to
congratulate Mr Peters, and thank him for his
contribution to the Elderslie Public School
community. As a result, there will be a staffing
restructure.
Mrs Kate Caruana will be replaced on 5/6P by
Mrs Holly Marino. Mrs Sarah Park will continue
to job share on 5/6P with Mrs Marino. During
week 7 Mrs Marino and Mrs Caruana will work
together closely to ensure a very smooth
transition for 5/6P.
I would also like to congratulate Miss Lauren
Campbell who was successful through an
internal application process in attaining the
position of Relieving Assistant Principal for
Stage 3. Miss Campbell is excited about her
new position and looks forward to working with
the stage 3 community.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you
need any further clarification.
Can all parents please return your SeeSaw
permission slips for the use of the SeeSaw app.
This is a great tool to help you share in the
learning of your child.
SeeSaw
The school will be holding a free disco for
every class that has had 100% return of their
classes permission notes on Friday 10th March
during lunch and recess.
Please do not hesitate to see your class
teacher if you have any questions about the
SeeSaw app.
A number of 5/6 students are taking part in a
lunchtime Oz Tag competition.
Oztag is the latest craze in recreational sport
that now has competitions running all over
Australia, and with over 140,000 registered
players. It is a non-tackling game, non contact
game, with similar playing rules to that of
Rugby League. Eight players in each team are
on the field at any one time. Players wear a
Velcro waste band with a patch on each side.
This is a mixed competition.
A big thank you to Mr Chris Lees for his time
each Monday lunch time to referee our games.
We look forward to updating the community
with our teams results as the term progresses.
Congratulations to the 2017 Student
Representative Council, Library Monitors,
House and Vice Captains who were presented
with their badges at last week’s Induction
Assembly.

The Wellbeing team at Elderslie Public School
understand the importance of play and having
our students entertained and engaged during
our lunch and recess breaks. We are creating
some playground equipment for our students to
use during break times and we would love the
support of our community.
We will beholding a school Working Bee on
Sunday 9th April 2017 at 10am. If you are
available to help on the day we would love to
hear from you or if you have any resources and
materials that could be used to create these
structures we would be very grateful.
If you can help in any way please contact the
school office and put your name down. More
information about our working bee will follow in
weeks to come.
Thank you for your support

Program Update
Hi Everyone!
At OSHClub, the children's ideas create the program and they have the option to do the activities programmed
or there are always materials for free craft availa ble, and equipment for free play.
As term 12017 comes into f ull swing we have begun to settle into our routine and the children are now settled
in their new classes at school. I would like to take this time to remind our families that we are becoming
increasingly busy and days are being booked out. Once we have become f ull we are not able to take in any
more child ren as we are licensed to hold 45 child ren by the department of education and cannot legally accept
anything over this num ber. So we urge families to book in advance if possible and if an emergency arises
please contact us as soon as possible and we will do our best to accommodate where possible.
With the begin ning of the year comes our annual paperwork, this paperwork is req uired for children with
asth ma, anaphylaxis, additional needs, allergies and also children with current court orders in place. We ask
parents to please be patient with us during this process as it is a legal req uirement and if possible return the
pa perwork as soon as possible.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the families for their patience in the first few weeks of
Term 1as this is a unsettling time for the child ren and families and also a chance for us to get to know the
children and the OSHCl ub families.
We would love to hear our families feedback throughout the term so any feedback will be gratef ully
appreciated.
