THERE IS NO ALTERNATIVE TO DIGITALISATIONEven on the building site. Construction needs to

step up productivity through digitalisation.

WHY BIM IS NECESSARY?

BIM ANSWERS A MARKET NEEDBIM as a market is expected to reach US $11.54 billion by

2022* Massive growth will be attributed to new offerings

of cloud-based BIM services

BIM IS THE DIGITALISATIONOF ALL ASPECTS OF CONSTRUCTION LIFECYCLE• Rapid digital modelling and testing

• Easy access to digital information

• Better interdisciplinary collaboration

Technology and processes can improve efficiency but

only through collaboration we can make better buildings

BIM IN MEP IS ALL ABOUT- COORDINATION - CALCULATION - COLLABORATION

BIM IN MEP DESIGN1. COORDINATION

COORDINATION IN MEP DESIGN

3D design of one discipline ▪ more accurate design of systems

▪ coordination inside a discipline

3D design and visual

coordination of disciplines▪ collision checking, coordination

▪ between disciplines, stakeholders

”saving time and

money during the

construction phase”

Information sharing based

coordination▪ Digitalization of one specific process

▪ E.g. Provision for voids process

between MEP and structural designer

Virtual Reality, VR▪ Visualization of coordination

It is all about

COORDINATION

EXAMPLE: INTEGRATED ENGINEERING CALCULATIONS FOR VENTILATION SYSTEMS

Once the ventilation system is partly or fully modelled, you can easily utilise MagiCAD´s integrated and localised calculation tools including sizing, balancing, system sound calculations and space sound calculation. Calculate to minimum pressure, fan pressure or a given pressure. Adjustment values, pressure drop, sound and flow data – all is there for you to analyse. Finally when all are set and done, print the calculation report with matching node numbers and all the design criteria documented.

MEP DESIGN & BIM3. COLLABORATION

COLLABORATION IN MEP DESIGN

Communication tools ▪ Standardize a communication of issues

▪ A way to report and also

find issue from a model

▪ E.g. BCF –tools

(Building Collaboration Format)

▪ Communication services E.g. BIMcollab

© Copyright 2017 Progman Ltd

Cloud based file services▪ Standardize model sharing

▪ Global access

▪ E.g. Autodesk BIM360

IFC▪ Standardize data delivery

▪ Data transfer between different

software

▪ E.g. model checking software

It is all about

COLLABORATION
