TRANSCRIPT

Climate change is now a fact of life on this planet. "The vast majority of experts, 95%, maybe even 99%, agree that climate change is taking place,“

"Even the most conservative estimates are profoundly disturbing and demand action. We are setting up a world for our children and grandchildren that may be extremely frightening and turbulent."

Anthony Costello, a professor of international child health and director of the Institute for Global Health at University College London.

WHAT IS GREEN MOBILITY

The movement of goods and people in a way that is less harmful to the environment

 Reduction in Carbon Dioxide

 Non motorised transport

 Electric Vehicles

Vehicles fuelled with alternative energy resources

WHAT MAKES US “GREEN”

Retrofitted with a conversion kit and is fuelled by Liquefied Petroleum Gas or LPG

 Fuelled by a B20 Blend of Bio-diesel

 Green Partners

PETROL VEHICLES – RETROFITTED WITH A CONVERSION KIT POWERED BY LPG

Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is an alternate energy resource, a mixture of propane and butane

When used as a vehicle fuel it is often referred to as autogas

The simple chemical make up of the gases ensures that they are clean burning

30 litre tank fitted in the boot of the vehicle

67 litre tank fitted underneath the vehicle

Dispensing unit

CONVERSION PROCESS

A conversion kit is installed into the vehicle by an accredited SABS installer

The Technical Director of Hyundai South Africa approves the installation

Full Warranty is extended by Hyundai South Africa

Vehicle is fuelled by both Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and Petrol

Supplier of LPG is conveniently located

ENVIROMENTAL BENEFITS OF LPG

Compared with petrol and diesel, LPG is the best environmental alternative

Low carbon content fuel that reduces your carbon footprint

LPG produces fewer harmful emissions that impact on local air quality

 Engine noise is low

Less damage to soil and water in case of spills - LPG will quickly evaporate in the event of a fuel spill. Unlike petrol and diesel, there is no risk of ground or water contamination

WHY USE LPG

 Reduces pollution-better air quality

 Decreases CO2 emissions

 Diversify energy sources

 Cost effective

 Immediate access

 Mature technology

 Easy to use

Estimated 15 million vehicles in use worldwide

DIESEL VEHICLES – FUELLED BY B20 BLEND

Biodiesel is a renewable and alternative fuel for any diesel engine, manufactured from re-used cooking oil.

B20 Blend – 80% Diesel & 20% BiodieselMost recommended, and can be used with the common rail injector systems

B50 Blend - 50% Biodiesel & 50% dieselCan be used in all diesel engines except those with common rail injector systems

B100 Diesel – 100% BiodieselCan be used in any diesel engine except those with the new common rail injector systems – not recommended for temperatures lower than 8 degrees Celsius

PRODUCTION OF BIO-DIESEL

Biodiesel is produced from Used Vegetable Oil (UVO)

The oil goes through a process to reduce the free fatty acids

Then it goes to the filtration process

 Separation Process

 Dry Washing

 Wet Washing

 Polishing

ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS OF USING BIO-DIESEL

Made from recycled cooking oil which does not compete with food stocks

Contains no sulphur which is the major cause of engine oil degradation

 Improves engine performance

Provides better engine lubrication over regular diesel

 75% less exhaust smoke emissions

 Produces less Carbon Dioxide

 Infinitely renewable

WHY USE BIO-DIESEL

Costs less to produce than regular diesel

 NO engine modifications are necessary

Users can switch between biodiesel and regular diesel

Engine warrantees are still valid if you use a 5% blend of biodiesel

It helps economic growth and economic empowerment

It extends engine life by up to 200%

GREEN PARTNERS

Demand for services exceeds supply of Green Vehicles

Subcontractors who operate on behalf of the Green Cab

Give them options as to how to “Green their Vehicles”

Train suppliers in Green Mobility

Eco driver training

Provide them with Systems and Business Operating Procedures

Provide tools to monitor & measure their Carbon Footprint
