1st verse

The air is cool in the gloamingAnd gently flows the RhineThe crest of the mountain is gleamingIn fading rays of Sunshine.

2nd verse

The loveliest maiden is sitting Up there, so wondrously fairHer golden jewelry is glist‘ningShe combs her golden hair.

3rd verse

She is brushing it with a golden combShe sings a song alongIt has a wonderousOverpoweringly strong melody.

4th verse

The shipper, in the little shipIs taken with a savage woeHe has no eye for the rocky reefsHe‘d rather look up at the mountain.

5th verse

I think that the waves will devourBoth boat and man, by and byAnd that, with her dulcet-voiced powerWas done by the Loreley.
