The Matsés is a native tribe that originated and developed in Peru and Brazil.

The Matsés people still live in areas of Peru and Brazil today!

They are often referred to as the “Cat People” because of their fondness of whiskers.

The Matsés began by avoiding all, white people.

They fought in the 1960s with their own “sister tribe”, the Marabou.

In 1969, the Matsés tribe finally ended their isolation and war when they accepted two female missionaries into their camp.

How did their religion and social structure affect their daily lives??

The Matsés main religions are…

Animists and Christianity

What factors are causing their decline???

The main reason for their decline is diseases like malaria and hepatitis.

The reason for all these diseases is because of lack of clean water.

Another reason for the Matsés decline is that the Peruvian board of health refuses to provide the proper vaccinations that they need.

Fundraise money for vaccinations.

Some fundraising activities that we could do are…

•Yard sales•Donations •Community service •Charity sports gamesEtc.

Yard Sale

Charity Sports Games

We could also go to Peru and Brazil and start a street protest with the help of volunteers. Hoping this will raise awareness to the Matsés people.
