House Sports Fun Run
This Friday we are holding our annual House Sports Fun Run. All students are invited to collect as many spon-
sors as they can and then run/walk as many laps as they can in one hour. The combined total of laps for each
house will determine which house is this year’s winner.
We encourage students to wear their house colours and bring a water bottle. We have got a number of spon-
sors on board to help support the day. There are also randomly drawn prizes for lap sponsors. This year we also
have sausages in bread, drinks and icy poles available and we encourage as many families as possible to come
along and enjoy the festivities. Funds raised will be used to purchase iPads for our students.
Thank you in anticipation of your support.
Vocal Ensemble Music Excursion
Mrs Leticq-Cromb and Mr Harris took a group of very motivated Vocal Ensemble students to the city for the
day. They enjoyed ‘busking’ in a number of locations throughout the city and were wonderfully received by vari-
ous onlookers. Our students thoroughly enjoyed themselves and were excellent representatives of our school.
Art Show
Please remember that we are holding a Mt Dandy PS Art show on November the 29th. All of our students have
been working intensely with a number of different local artists producing some amazing works of art. It is sure
to be a wonderful exhibition. See you there!
Relay for Life 2012 – Cake Stall Congratulations to Relay for Life team ‘Driven By Dave’. They hosted a cake stall here at school last Friday and
raised over $200 to go towards Cancer research.
Zoo Excursion
This Thursday all of our junior school students will be visiting the Zoo as part of their current integrated studies
topic. The students, staff and parents are excited about this excursion as are Sue and I who have managed to get
our names on the excursion list.
Thank you, Michael Leonard and Sue Gibson.
Dear Parents After a discussion with the Melbourne Zoo regarding lunches it has been decided that we will have the children bring a small backpack to carry their playlunch and lunch. The allocation of pavilions for schools no longer occurs and they have issues with hungry peacocks and ibis raiding school lunch baskets!!! It would be great if you could send your child along to the excursion with their snack, lunch and drink in a back pack (the smaller the better so it is not too cumbersome to carry all day. If you don’t have a small backpack, the school bag will be fine). Hats and jumpers will also be needed as rain is predicted after a sunny morning. If all children could meet in their classrooms at 8:30am to have their name marked off. After this we will assemble the entire junior school in the multi purpose room at 8:40am where name tags and groups will be allocated. The bus will leave at 8:50am and return to school at approximately 3:30pm. We are very much looking forward to this day. Regards, The Junior School Team

Fifth Annual S.L.U. Market Raising Money and Raising Awareness
Mums, Dads, Grandmas, Grandpas, Aunties, Uncles, neighbours, friends, boys and girls YOU can help!
How? If spring-cleaning fever has hit your home, PLEASE think of the SLU market before you throw out things you no longer want but could be loved and appreciated by someone
else to be sold at our fifth annual Senior Learning Unit Market. Books, toys, household goods, bling jewellery, seedlings and plants are some of the items that have been
successfully sold at past markets. Items that are in good, clean condition are being collected now – please drop your items off at the SLU
building. Grade 5 and 6 students will make treasure out of your “trash” and raise funds for charity.
Wishing Tree
There is only 6 weeks until Christmas! Each year we set up our own Wishing Tree in the foyer. The
tree will be in our foyer on Monday 19th November. The Wishing Tree provides an ideal way to teach
our children to think of others, especially those less fortunate.
Simply choose a tag from the tree:
YELLOW – for children in Grades Prep – 2
GREEN – for children in Grades 3 and 4
RED – for children in Grades 5 and 6
Purchase and wrap an appropriate gift, attach the tag and place it under the tree. Including your child in
the choice and wrapping of the gift is a great idea! The gifts will be collected on Monday 10th December and will be passed on to “ Steps Outreach Ser-
vice” which provides support for young homeless people.
Thank-you for your support.
This is a list of suggestions if you are unsure what to buy for the Wishing Tree

Auditory Processing Testing
Life can be very challenging for children with
Auditory Processing difficulties as they often
feel confused and misunderstand verbal instruc-tions. These frustrations can manifest into
many learning issues and behavioural patterns. Individual Auditory Processing testing takes 50 mins and will pin point any issues a child may be experiencing. $145, includes full report.

VOLUNTEERS WANTED Youth Services Program
My name is Maria McLoughlin and I am the Mentoring
Project Officer at Yarra Ranges Council. I coordinate three mentoring programs here at youth services which focus on supporting and assisting young people within the Shire to
reach their full potential. At present we have a particular shortage of mentors,
especially males, and are trying to focus on recruitment for the month of November.
We have an extensive waiting list of young people at the moment and urgently require volunteers particularly for our
one on one program. If you are interested, please contact me,
