DefinitionsClassroom Teacher – “professional employe or temporary employe who provides direct instruction to students related to a specific subject or grade level”

Principal – “a building principal, an assistant principal, a vice principal or a director of vocational education”

Nonteaching Professional Employee – “an educational specialist or professional employe or temporary professional employe who provides services other than classroom instruction”

Teaching vs. Nonteaching Professionals

To be considered a teaching professional, you must be able to answer yes to the following two questions:

1) Are you working under your instructional certification?2) Do you provide direct instruction to students? (i.e. Do you plan, teach, & assess the instruction?)

If your answer yes to #1, but no to #2, you are a nonteaching professional.
