Are fundamental to the concept of the value of Jane Eyre,

hence the novel is a classic and prestigious example of

the literary canon. These are characteristics essential in

order to understand why Jane Eyre, in particular

resonates with different audiences of different contexts.

where:

Stories expressed real life with facts and general

VALUE OF JANE EYRE

 The value of Jane Eyre as literature has been

influenced by the concept of realism which gives it

its superior, lasting artistic merit.

GOTHIC LITERATURE

Gothic literature involves the supernatural or promise of the

supernatural

Jane Eyre contains elements of Gothic literature very popular

genre in 18th and early 19th century:

- The mystery surrounding Mr. Rochester

- Mysterious and eerie setting of novel

The Gothic genre as evident in Jane Eyre, challenges the readers to

consider what may be real and not real, which ultimately, adds to the

value and significance of the novel in the literary world.
