Hong Kong Industry’ Challenges

Ageing Population of Hong Kong causes shortage of labor in Logistics industry

E-Commerce poses special requirements to new e-Warehouse (Smart Warehouse), track and trace capability along all shipping segments and probably requiring More Labor, if not using robots or automation. In addition, traditional manufacturing model would be found wanting for e-commerce market.

Young generation steer away from jobs demanding strenuous labor.

Competitive offer from other industry, e.g. Construction Industry, which shares the same pain points

Challenge of “imbalance” due to unstable orders

Aspects of Hong Kong’s Reindustrialization

Very few industrial activities left In Hong Kong, as most Hong Kong manufacturing companies are having their factory plants in China or other countries.

First-tier approach, obviously, is to modernize existing manufacturing technologies, to achieve bigger flexibility, faster response and higher productivity.

A more challenging aspect, or more fundamental challenge, is to identify and nurture possible brand new products and services where the manufacturing of these new offerings can be realized in Hong Kong.
