God is Wise

• Throughout Scripture, we learn that God is infinitely wise.• “O LORD, how manifold are thy works! In wisdom hast thou

made them all: the earth is full of thy riches” (Ps 104:24).• “The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by

understanding hath he established the heavens” (Prov 3:19).• “Who would not fear thee, O King of the nations? For to thee

doth it appertain: forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like unto thee” (Jer 10:7).• “Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and

might are his” (Dan 2:20).

God is Wise

• Throughout Scripture, we learn that God is infinitely wise.• “O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge

of God! How unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!” (Rom 11:33).• “To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever.

Amen” (Rom 16:27).• “The foolishness of God is wiser than men” (1 Cor 1:25).

God knowsall things

God is Wise

• “Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite” (Ps 147:5).• “If our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and

knoweth all things” (1 Jn 3:20).

How does God’s knowledge affect

me?

God is Wise

• One: God knows everything about me.• “The very hairs of your head are all numbered” (Matt 10:30).• God knows what sins I commit.• “Thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly” (Matt

6:6).• “All things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we

have to do” (Heb 4:13).• God knows what I need to pray about.• “Your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask

him” (Matt 6:8).

• Two: God knows the future as well as the past.• “Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and

foreknowledge of God” (Acts 2:23).• “God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew” (Rom

11:2).

God knows morethan man

God is Wise

• God knows things we shall never know.• “The foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness

of God is stronger than men” (1 Cor 1:25).• Some things we shall never know include:• The inner workings of the universe.• The problem of pain & suffering.• When we are in intense pain, we often ask the question, “God, why

me?”• Job 38:2-11.

We need toseek God’s wisdom

God is Wise

• We are able to seek God’s wisdom through Scripture.• “Whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I

will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock” (Matt 7:24).• “From a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are

able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus” (2 Tim 3:15).

• We must also ask God for wisdom.• “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to

all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him” (Js 1:5).

God is Wise

• Human wisdom begins by honoring God.• “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom” (Ps

111:10).• Are you honoring & reverencing God?• Are you wise?
