Top 8 Ways to Avoid Stress at Your Workplace

1. Kick-Start Your Day

Studies show that if you reach office relaxed in the morning then you will feel less stress throughout the day. Therefore, leave your home 30 minutes early than usual so that you feel less rushed to reach your workplace.

2. Manage Your EmailWe all get plenty of crappie emails everyday. To keep away from stress, cut down the amount of time you spend reading and sending emails. Don’t waste you time in acknowledging an email receipt, instead put responses in the subject line so that you don’t have to compose a new message. If you’ve gone through an email three times and you’re still confused, then pick up the phone.

3. Stretch Your Body

A sedentary job can actually land you with a lot of mental as well as physical stress. So, it’s important that you do some stretching while sitting on your desk. Lift your legs up and stretch for 30 seconds, this will reduce the risk of blood clots. You can even try putting your arm behind your neck and hold on to the elbow with another. Do this for sometime and switch sides and repeat.

4. Get Something to MunchStart your day in the office with your favourite brew and bring some non-perishable snacks on hand. You can get some healthy munch like dried fruits, nuts, protein bars, juice boxes and much more. If you don’t munch anything for a few hours, it can drop your blood sugar levels and you will end up having stress. Therefore, bring something from home to munch in between your work.

5. Find Out What’s Stressing You Out

Come office early or find a secluded conference room and just think what’s stressing you out at the workplace. Write down on a sheet of paper and divide your worries:

• My worries• Why they bother me• Worst thing that could happenOnce you find out your problems and confront them, then you will feel more relieved and stress-free.

6. Give Credit to Yourself

How many times have you praised yourself for doing things well? Don’t remember, isn’t it? Next time when you complete some project or achieve some goal, just tell yourself that you’ve done a really good job. This would help you gain more confidence that in turn will help you keep your cool amidst the workplace madness.

7. Plan Everything Early

If you’re facing challenges at work, then start making to-do lists for the every week. Sit down on Friday evening or take some time out on weekends to make a list that you need to do next week. This list will help you avoid forgetting anything and stay focused on your job.

8. Start Socialising

Meet your co-workers at least once a week just to discuss any work related issue. Start collaborating together and find how you can do things better, improve relationships and productivity.
