Top performing trio applaudedby Golden Key Honour SocietyVANDERBIJLPARK. - The recent newmember recognition ceremony of theprestigious Golden Key InternationalHonour Society saw a total of 250students from the North-West University's(NWU's) campus in Vanderbijlpark beingwelcomed into the fold.

Three students from the campus alsotook to the stage as Chapter Awardwinners of this Honour Society.

Salome

Salome Mofokeng is a master's studentin education management in the Facultyof Education and proudly boasts an

academicaverage of 79%. She enjoys anactive student life and has served onseveral leadership structures, including theStudent Campus Council (20122013) andthe Faranani Residence House Committee.The latter saw her occupying the publicrelations portfolio (20102011) as well asserving as vice prim (20112012). In 2014she was awarded as the Rivers of LivingWaters Ministries Youth Academic

Achiever. Her extracurricular activitiesinclude playing soccer for the campusand the NWU's USSA team. She is alsoa member of the campus choir.

In 2014 the Lebohang SecondarySchool announced her as Best NoviceEducator, and in 2017 she was applaudedfor her for excellence in teaching (ac-counting and economic managementstudies).

Tendai Mavhungu andSalome Mofokeng eachreceived the highesthonour within theVanderbijlpark CampusChapter, based on theirindividual academicachievements, workcommitments, extracur-ricular activities,leadership positions andcommitment to commu-nity service.

The award winnerswere announced byGillian Cloete, associa-te director at GoldenKey InternationalHonour Society SouthAfrica.

Ammaarah Abba is aBEd student in theFaculty of Education.She is studying towardsa Senior and FETPhase qualification andboasts a cumulativeacademic average of80%.

During 2018 shereceived an Outstan-ding Academic Achie-vement Award as a topstudent in the EnglishDidactics for Educationsubject group. She has

been part of theMuslim Association since 2017 and alsoserves on the Vaal Muslim Women'sForum. Her passion for communityupliftment is also evident from herparticipation in the Driehoek SchoolServices Project as well as the IMAClinic.

Tendai Mavhungu, a BCom economicsand risk management student in theFaculty of Economic and ManagementSciences, boastsan academicaverage of75,9%. As a member of the off-campusresidence, Faranani,Tendai is activelyinvolved in variousleadership structu-res.
