Yale’s Senior Survey Response Rates
• 2013 & 2014:
– Survey respondents were sent a “class list” of contact and placement information for their graduating class
– Access to the class list was an incentive to complete the 2014 survey
Success of Yale’s response rate
• Because of high response rate, social media is not relied on for initial data
• LinkedIn is used to verify that the student got or took the job, if listed as “in progress” on survey
• The Office of Career Strategy finds facebook more effective than LinkedIn or Twitter for reaching current students
Uses of Social Media
• Graduate School of Arts & Sciences– All Ph.D. degrees
• Professional Schools– Architecture– Art– Divinity– Drama– Engineering & Applied Science– Forestry & Environmental Studies– Law– Management– Medicine– Music– Nursing– Public Health
