47It is with great pleasure that we present Art for Nature 2016, an annual charity art exhibition held since 1997, where part of the proceeds will be channelled to WWF-Malaysia’s conversation efforts. We have been in the Malaysian art scene for seven years now nurturing artistic talents and supporting worthy causes through creative exhibitions.
Like the exquisite and valuable artworks created by artists; our natural treasures are priceless and irreplaceable; their beauty awe-inspiring and invaluable. From the majestic tiger that graces our national crest to the Hawksbill turtle with its exquisite shell, from the mighty Gunung Kinabalu to the magnificent reefs of Sipadan Island; our natural treasures have shaped our culture and inspired the creation of our stories and art for many generations.
We hope that the artworks exhibited in Art for Nature 2016 will ignite the passion for environmental conservation among members of the public, as well as an appreciation of the power of art to communicate meaningful messages.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the brilliant participatings artists, generous collectors, the WWF-Malaysia team and everyone whose support made Art for Nature 2016 possible.

Through the Art for Nature exhibition, WWF-Malaysia invited artists to share their brilliant creativity through artworks that showcase our natural treasures, thereby inspiring everyone to value and conserve the beauty and bounty of our living planet. Our natural environment is humankind’s greatest treasure: we need our forests for clean air to breathe and fresh water for our homes and industries; we need our seas for seafood to eat. We need our forests to serve as carbon sinks and for soil stability, to help minimise the adverse effects of climate change. We need healthy forests and seas for our very survival, even as these ecosystems sustain industries such as ecotourism and fisheries, providing income for millions of people.
Our natural gifts are priceless, and we should conserve and treasure them, so that our children and future generations can continue to enjoy the invaluable services provided by healthy ecosystems, such as forests and seas – and continue to be inspired by nature’s beauty.
On behalf of WWF-Malaysia, I would like to thank Madam Cheong and Island Gallery for organising Art for Nature 2016; and Gurney Paragon Mall for hosting the exhibition. We also thank the artists for generously lending their talent to support the conservation cause. We hope that Art for Nature 2016 will be an exciting celebration of our natural treasures that will inspire everyone to treasure and protect nature’s gifts.
