Blessings!!!
No one was injured as a result of the incident.
Tuckahoe Elementary will be available within
approximately three weeks.
There has been an amazing outpouring of support from a
wide range of community members. Offers continue to
come in.
We have a temporary location where our entire school
community can remain together/intact during repairs.
The incredible Tuckahoe staff will make this work for
students.
There has been great support from the school division.
Flexibility is a virtue!

Student Transportation and Arrival
Morning pick up times remain the same.
Students will be delivered to SPMS vs. Tuckahoe Elementary
Students may arrive at 7:20 a.m; however, a 7:40 a.m. arrival is preferred.
Buses will begin arriving at approximately 7:40 a.m.
The school day starts at 7:50 a.m.
Supervision will be provided for bus and day care drop offs and car riders.
Starting Our Day
All students escorted by TES staff to the gymnasium to meet with their teachers.
Breakfast will be available for students who eat breakfast at school.
Students will be escorted by their teachers and volunteers to classrooms.
Late arrivals should report to the main SPMS office and will be directed to the Tuckahoe clinic.
Instruction (Teaching and Learning)
Teachers have access to library books, teaching guides, all electronic resources.
Grade levels were adopted by neighboring schools to assist with resources.
Resource classes (Art, Music, PE) will continue.
COWS have been cleaned and transported to the satellite site and there is access to 45 iPads.
Learning will continue.
Instruction (Teaching and Learning)
Miscellaneous student and teacher supplies
(pencils, crayons, paper, glue sticks, etc.) were
provided by the HCPS warehouse.
The distribution of report cards will be delayed until
Wednesday, November 21st.
Classroom space and furniture vary from room to
room; however, every effort was made to keep
classes together.
Lunch Plans/Services
Lunch will begin at 10:20 a.m.
Elementary students will finish lunch before middle school students begin.
Supervision will be provided by teachers, administrators, and volunteers.
A separate serving line dedicated to elementary only will be provided.
Students’ lunch numbers have been transferred to SPMS. Payments and collections remain the same.
The Tuckahoe cafeteria staff will be managing the elementary operations and serving students.
Arrangements have been made to address students with food allergies.
Request that parents not come to school to have lunch with their student.
Medical/Health Services
Tuckahoe Elementary will share the SPMS clinic. There is a separate room for elementary students.
Mrs. Carter is on site and will care for the elementary students.
Medication must be replaced.
Parents signing out students from the clinic should report to the SPMS office first and then be directed to the clinic area.
Henrico County Fire will maintain an additional rescue unit in the vicinity of the school.
Departure/Release of Students Early Dismissals- Must report to SPMS main office,
sign in and then report to room 800 (TES’s temp. office)
The school day will end at 1:30 p.m. Car riders will be held in classrooms until 1:45 p.m.
Students will be escorted by TES teachers to the appropriate departure area (buses, day care vans, car riders).
Students who are car riders should be picked up and dropped off in the front of the school at the main entrance. Car riders will be delivered to the loading area at 1:45 p.m. Supervision will be provided.
Other transportation providers will use the bus ramp.
Parents are strongly encouraged to allow students to ride the bus to avoid traffic congestion.
Bus students who must be returned for some reason will be taken to and supervised at Three Chopt Elementary.
Communication
The main phone number (673-3765) for Tuckahoe
Elementary remains the same. Calls will be
automatically transferred to the satellite office. Caller
ID information will not be accurate and if you hit
return call it will not call our satellite office.
The Tuckahoe Elementary web site will continue to be
the best place to get information. This PowerPoint
presentation will be posted on the web site.
Staff emails remain the same.
The School Messenger telephone notice system will
be used as necessary.
Student Safety
Evaluation drills will be conducted.
Hallway supervision will be conducted by staff
and volunteers.
Bathroom supervision will be conducted by
staff and volunteers.
Arrival and departure times will be heavily
supervised.
All health/medical forms and adult
authorization forms are at temporary location.
New Transportation Form completed for
temporary location. (Available in commons)
TES Spirit
TES School Staff will wear TES spirit wear while at Short Pump Middle School.
TES students are encouraged to wear TES spirit wear the first day so they can easily be identified.
Each morning our school will gather in the gym for school wide announcements, Pledge Allegiance to flag, Tuckahoe motto, Moment of Silence, sing school song, recognize birthdays, etc.
Transportation is stationed in the Common area if
you need information regarding bus number or bus
stop location.
TES staff available to help locate classrooms. Maps
and room assignments available on tables in
common area.
Clinic attendant and nurse are available to receive
medication
