REMEMBER THE RULES

What you do to one side of the equation-

Do to the other side of the equation!

Addition and Subtraction = opposite operations

Multiplication and Division = opposite operations

Combine like terms!

WORDS TO LEARNAddition = sum, more than

Subtraction = difference, less than

Multiplication = product

Division = quotient

Equals = “is”

SOLVEShelia wants to buy a mountain bike for $180. She has already saved $60. For the next six months, she wants to save an equal amount each month in order to save the total amount.

Equation:

How much will she need to save each month?

6d + 60 = 180 $20 per month

SOLVEIn his DVD collection, Domingo has 8 more than twice as many animated movies as action movies. If he has 24 animated movies, how many action movies are in his collection?

Equation: 24 = 2n + 8 8 movies

SOLVEToa is building a door. The height of the door is 1 foot more than twice its width. If the door is 7 feet high, what is its width?

Equation:
