The emblem of the School of Communication shows a lion sounding a trumpet.
The lion is the King of the Beasts, the leader of the pack. We want to develop communicators who are leaders, pace setters. The lion’s roar is used to arouse themselves before the night’s hunting. We want to develop communicators who can express themselves clearly and persuasively. Lions are sociable animals: They live together in parties of twelve or more. This characteristic of the lion represents public communication.
The trumpet represents the channels of communication. A trumpet, is used properly, produces distinct and penetrating sounds—just the way we want our messages to be.

Media and Entertainment Management (MEM) The University of Asia & the Pacific’s School of
Communication once again holds the distinction of being a pioneer in communications education in Asia as it offers a new program: Media and Entertainment Management (MEM).
MEM is a response to emerging global trends that have been reshaping ICT and the media and entertainment landscape. These trends are commoditization, convergence, the rise of social networks, and participation economy.
MEM draws from the disciplines of strategic business management, digital media management, entertainment culture, interactive marketing, and integrated marketing communications to develop media professionals who can adapt and respond to the demands of a dynamic media and entertainment environment.
MEM has organically sprung from an older and internationally recognized program, namely the Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC). Thus, it manifestly intersects with IMC in a number of points.

The option to do a summer international residency is also open to 5th year graduate students.
The residency is a hands-on application of theories and concepts learned in the classrooms. It is called residency rather than internship because students are expected to function and perform as full team members of business units within their assigned firm.
