CAST: MASS + VOIDPlaster was cast around a plastic bag. The cast was

then sawn in half, allowing a deeper study of the

mass and voids created through a natural element.

Design I, Fall 2011_Professor Gaskins

MICOPROGRAMFocus on the human body. Carving with light and

shadow, as well as casting with shadow and shade

were used to carve a meditation space.

Design I, Fall 2011_Professor Gaskins

5

STOPA stop, or moment of pause, is not clearly defined or

programed. This urban intersection stop

incorporates multiple microprograms.

Design I, Fall 2011_Professor Gaskins

6

LIGHT SHADE SHADOWContrast of light, shade, and shadow are

potrayed through a black and white tone

drawing.

Vis Comm I, Fall 2011_Professors Rosner, Birdsong

7

ANALYTICAL TOOL DRAWINGA door chain lock was closely analyized and then

drawn constructively, including moments of all

components and mechanisms.

Vis Comm I, Fall 2011_Professors Rosner, Birdsong

8

LIGHT SHEDRepitition of a single moment creates

a brisolei to shed light or cast with

shadow.

9

PERFORMANCEA downtown Austin performance space

characterizes duality with both day and

night uses.

10

ANALYTICAL SUCCULENT DRAWINGThe False Saguaro is symmetrical in form, both

inside and out, revealed through study and

drawing.

Vis Comm II, Spring 2012_Professors Rosner, Mezquiti

11

ANALYTICAL RECONSTRUCTIONThe succulent was deconstructed, then

reconstructed digitally, revealing inherent

structure, as well as parts to a whole

CHANGING ROOM: MODULE TO FIELDA field was created from a repeated, ribbon module. The

field was then made into a room for the Lady Bird Johnson

Wildflower center.

pattern, further expressed through

color.

AXONOMETRICSAn interlocking block assembly is

influenced by its relationship to the

ground.

CONSTRUCTED PERSPECTIVEColor adds a sense of light and space to the

block assembly, allowing occupation.

WILDFLOWER BUILDINGA building to enhance the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower

center. Rain water is collected from a sloped roofwhile

air is circulated through the dog-run construction.

Design II, Spring 2012_Professor Weinthal

A visitor information area is

included in the main building

while the extended roof

provides coverage for the

intersecting walkway.

EXTRACTION + GRAPHIC PATTERNINGAssembly New York by Greg Armas is a clothing line heavily

influenced by menswear and tailoring in a neutral palette. A

simplified lapel creates a graphic pattern.

Design IV, Spring 2013_Professor Odom

30

GRAPHIC PROJECTIONDistortion through pattern projection onto the

human body and as well as objects.

Experimentation of relationship between

pattern and human scale.

THICKENING2D patterns are translated into a 3D

fashion retail component.

Folding and layering create distinct

moments while playing with light and

shadow.

MEASURE OF THE BODYA plain white oxford shirt was deconstructed,

and then reasemmbled through various braiding

techniques. Braiding provides a temporary

element which allows the shirt to be worn by

various people or in various ways.

Design V, Fall 2013_Professor Gaskins

MATERIAL TRANSLATIONThe oxford shirt braiding is translated to new

materials: paper and plaster, while maintaining

similar visual qualities.
