How to use this handout:
First print out your copy of the “Standards at A Glance” from the www.nationalartsstandards.org website. Make sure to select your
strand: visual, music, dance, etc.
On the following pages I encourage you to look towards the Enduring Understandings as way to help interpret the Anchor Standards.
The blank spaces of the document are to fill in and list ways or lesson ideas you can use each Anchor Standard through the Enduring
Understanding.
Look at your copy of the “Standards at a Glance” to see your grade-level Performance Standards. This will help you in creating your list
of ideas. Remember, the Anchor Standards are the “content” and the performing standards are the “practical outcomes” .
Finally this document can be used as reflection tool– the blank spaces can be a place to find opportunities for improvement.
