US WEEKLY WEATHER OUTLOOK

• May8–14:AWarmingTrendBoostsSeasonalDemand,AlthoughtheNortheastRemainsChallenging.StormyWeatherinthePlains.

• May15–21:WesternandCentralLocationsContinuetoBeWarm,SupportingSeasonalDemand.TheEastRemainsCoolerthanLastYear.

US:WEEKOFMAY8–14Retail implications: Seasonal demandwill be strongest acrosstheWesternandCentralUSastheseareastrendwarmerthanlastyearfortheweek.

• Last year, this week was warmer than normal:Temperatureswerewarmerthannormal,drivenbyeasternregions.Rainfallwasabovenormal.

• Hotweekahead:TheCentralUSwillstarttheweekwarm,and thewarm temperatureswill expand into theEastandWestastheweekprogresses.IntheSouthwest,thedesertwill see temperatures reaching 100 degrees, whiletemperaturesinthe90swillextendintoTexas.

• Stormy skies: A systemwillmove out of the Rockies intothePlainsatthestartoftheweek,settingoffshowersandthunderstormswithachanceforsevereweather.Overthesecondhalfof theweek, thesystemwill track to theEast,bringingrainat thecloseof theworkweek.TheWestwillseemostlydryweather.

US:WEEKOFMAY15–21

Retailimplications:MostoftheCentralandWesternUSwillseetemperatures that are slightly above to well above last year’s,resultinginpromisingcompstolastyearforseasonalgoodssuchasicedbeveragesandT-shirts.

• Lastyear, thisweek’s temperatureswere slightlybelowaverage:TheUSwasthecoolestithadbeenfortheweeksince 2011. Rainfall during the week was above normalandthemostseensince2013.

• AcoolerEast: Itwillbecoolerthannormalandthanlastyear intheeasternhalfof thecountryearly intheweek,andthenwarmertemperatureswillreturn.TheEastCoastwillstaycoolerthanlastyear.

• Alittlerainmustfall:Rainfallwillbeprevalentacrossthewestern half of the country as several systems bringshowers and thunderstorms from the Pacific Northwestthrough theCentral Plains. Showers and stormswill alsodottheDeepSouththroughouttheweek.

Retail implications: Seasonal demand will be focused in theNorth,whereitwillbewarmeranddryer,andhamperedinthewetter,coolerSouth.

• DryandwarmNorth:HighpressurewilldominatetheNorthfor much of the week, bringing mostly sunny and warmweather. Signs of cooling will push into the far North onFriday.

• Rainy and cool South:Astorm trackwillpersistacross theSouth, keeping the region cool and wet. WarmertemperatureswillreturntotheSoutheastlateintheweek.

Retail implications: Seasonal demandwill be hampered again,withScandinaviaandTurkeybeingtheonlyexceptions.

• Back to cool: Seasonable to cooler-than-normaltemperatures will spread across Europe once again, whileScandinaviaandTurkeywillstaywarmer.

• Becomingwetter:RainwillfallacrosstheEastearly,thenafront will sweep from west to east, bringing rain to mostareas.
