2- Driving authorizations1- Introduction
Car Lease is a program whereby the Bank owns the car and leases it to you for an agreed upon period of
time and a specific monthly lease.
When the total monthly lease payments are settled according to the agreement and you decide
to own the car, we will transfer ownership of the car to you under the promise of the ownership
agreement.
2-1 Driving authorization inside Saudi Arabia
First time issuance of authorization:
The authorization for the first time is automatically
issued when you sign the Lease contract.
Renewal of authorization:
The authorization is renewed every 3 months,
whether for you or for any person you authorize to
drive the car (details on authorizing an additional
driver are mentioned in the next article).
Steps:
Visit the nearest Al Rajhi Bank showroom with
all the required documents, request renewal of
authorization and receive it immediately.
2-2 Authorization of additional driver
Who is eligible for authorization?
You can authorize one additional driver on
the condition that he has a valid Saudi driving
license and is between 18 and 60 years of age (for
individuals) and between 21 and 60 years of age (for
establishments/companies).
Steps for first authorization or renewal:
Visit the nearest Al Rajhi Bank showroom with
all the required documents, request renewal of
authorization and receive it immediately.

3-1 Traveling to Gulf countries
You and the person you authorize can get an
authorization to drive in any of the Gulf countries.
Required permissions and documents to get
before you travel:
• Authorization to drive (from Traffic Department)
• Extension of insurance policy for Gulf countries
(Takaful Certificate)
Steps for first authorization or renewal:
1- Visit your nearest Al Rajhi Bank showroom with
all the needed documents
2- Get the insurance extension policy made for Gulf
countries from the showroom (requires specific
fees)
3- Get the letter addressed to the Traffic Department
from the showroom
4- Get the letter stamped by the Chamber of
Commerce
5- Take the stamped letter to the Traffic Department
to receive the authorization, which is valid for 3
months
3-2 Traveling to Arab countries (Syria, Lebanon
and Jordan)
You and the person you authorize can get a driving
license in other Arab countries.
Necessary permissions and documents required

• Extension of insurance policy for Arab
countries (Takaful Certificate)
Steps for first authorization or renewal:
1- Visit your nearest Al Rajhi Bank showroom with
all the needed documents

countries from the showroom (requires specific fees)
3- Get the letter addressed to the Traffic Department

Note: For non-Saudi customers, a “fine
guarantee for an individual or establishment/
company” is requested against the outstanding
finance balance. The guarantee is subject
to approval. After the guarantor fills in the
required form and submits the required
documents, which are:

(Saudi nationality).

5- Insurance and car accidents
When you receive the car, make sure your name appears on the car license as the user of the
car. If it does not, inform the Al Rajhi Bank showroom (where you signed the Lease contract)
and request that your name be added as the car user.
Have your information updated on the Traffic Department website on www.moi.gov.sa
By doing this, you will receive an SMS on your mobile phone for any traffic violations committed
while the car is driven.

For establishments/companies: copy of
commercial register + Chamber of Commerce
subscription + ID of the establishments’ owner
+ an account statement of 6 months for the

If the authorization is requested for someone
other than the customer, we need the
customer’s written approval on such a request.
5-1 Insurance coverage
The car is insured according to the Takaful Shariah
compliance concept and with the following
coverage:
• The leased car only (does not cover passengers or
properties)
• Second party of the accident (comprehensive
coverage)

5-2 How to benefit from your insurance
To benefit from the insurance coverage, always keep
the following documents with you, and make sure
they are valid.
• Valid driving license (for you and your authorized
driver)
• Valid insurance policy (details on updating the
insurance policy are in the next article)
• Copy of valid car license
• Valid driving authorization (for you and your
authorized driver)
We advise you to go through the insurance policy
(Takaful Certificate) carefully, to find important
information that will help you avoid many problems
and difficulties.

5-3 Insurance policy renewal (Takaful

First insurance policy:
Your first insurance policy is issued
automatically when you sign the contract and is
valid for one year from its date of issuance.
Insurance policy renewal:
The policy is renewed automatically. All you
have to do is visit your nearest Al Rajhi Bank
showroom before your policy expires and
receive the new one immediately.
5-4 Steps to follow in case of car accident:
1- Call Najm Company on 92000 0560 (and inform
the traffic authorities in case of injuries, death or
fire (God forbid))
2- When the Najm representative writes a report on
the accident, get a reference number from him
3- To get an insurance claim number, inform the
insurance company immediately after you get the
reference number
4- Follow the instructions you will receive from the
insurance company
5-5 Steps to follow for accident car repairs
To repair your car after damages from an accident,
you need to follow up with the insurance company
(92000 4414) and follow the required steps.

5-6 Total loss case
In case of an accident where the car is considered to be a total loss or useless to repair (only the
insurance company can determine this case), the insurance company will inform you and the
compensation will be made to Al Rajhi Bank as the owner of the car. The Lease contract will be
terminated based on the remaining lease amount.
5-7 Steps to follow in case of car theft
In case of car theft, follow the steps below:
1- Inform the police and receive a theft report
2- Inform the insurance company and get a claim
number
3- Follow the instructions given to you by the
insurance company
5-8 Steps to follow in case of fire and natural
disasters
In case of car damage from fire or a natural
disaster, follow the steps below:
1- Inform the Civil Defense Department (Fire
Department) and receive a damage report
2- Inform the insurance company and get a claim
number
3- Follow the instructions given to you by the
insurance company

7- Renewal of car license6- Request for a spare key in case of its loss
If you lose the key, without having an additional one,
you will have to wait for a time and bear the cost of a
new one. You also need to follow the steps below:
1- Visit the nearest Al Rajhi Bank showroom to
request the spare key
2- Return the key to the showroom, as soon as you
have the additional one from the car dealer
As soon as you receive your car, we strongly advise you to request an additional key
from the car dealer to avoid money loss and hassle in the event you lose the original
key. The additional key cost is at your expense.
• When you travel between cities in
Saudi Arabia or to places outside
Saudi Arabia, make sure you have the
additional key
• When you travel, do not keep the
additional key inside the car. Keep
it either with you or with one of your
travel companions

To renew the car license, follow the steps below:
1- Complete the car inspection by the Motor Vehicle
Periodical Inspection Department
2- Visit your nearest Al Rajhi Bank showroom to
request license renewal
3- Receive the new car license after 14 working days
Note: We pay the first exam fee only (the
re-exam fee in case of failure and the consequent
maintenance and/or spare parts costs to pass the
exam are on your charge).

You must do all the maintenance needed for the car
and as per the car dealer maintenance schedule.
The scheduled maintenance costs or other
maintenance costs are charged to you.
Warranty extension:
The car is subject to the dealer warranty only. We
offer an extension of the warranty, which is the
same one offered by the dealer, but extended to
cover the whole lease period of up to 5 years or a
maximum 200,000 kms.

In case of car manufacturer fault, which is not a result of car misuse, follow the steps below:
1- Inform the car dealer and get a report on the manufacturer fault
2- Visit your nearest Al Rajhi Bank showroom and inform us about the fault
3- We will follow-up on the case with the car dealer and let you know the procedures depending on the
nature of the fault
Since the car is under a Lease contract, and since the ownership will be transferred to you when the
contract ends (by settling all the monthly lease payments), preserving the car is to your own benefit and
helps you avoid potential problems during the lease.
Periodical maintenance:
Follow the maintenance schedule that is defined by the car dealer to avoid mechanical failures or delays.
Also, maintaining the car periodically preserves the car’s performance and sale value.
Car modifications:
Do not make any modifications or add mechanical or electrical parts to the car or its body in order to
avoid violation of terms and conditions, and the insurance and dealer warranty cancellation, in addition
to the cancellation of extended warranty.
Examples of modifications:
Body color change, installation of additional lights, modifying the engine or other mechanical parts.
Car misuse:
Do not lease the car to a third party and adhere to the car usage purpose (personal usage for
individuals and according to commercial activity for establishments/companies). Also, do not allow any
unauthorized person to drive the car.
9- Car manufacturer fault
To request the replacement of lost car plates
or the replacement of existing ones, follow the
steps below:
1- Inform the police and get a report (only for the
case of lost plates)
2- Visit your nearest Al Rajhi Bank showroom to
request replacement plates
3- Pay the required fee (at the showroom)
4- Receive replacement plates after only 5 working
days from the showroom
Request for a new plate number:
To request a new plate number, you need to
request approval from us and we have the right to
approve or reject. In case we approve, you need
to sign a promise stating you will not request any
compensation if you do not end up owning the car
for any reason. You also need to follow the same
steps mentioned above.

14- Owning the car during the Lease contract12- Cancellation of the Lease contract
If the car license and the car plates are issued, you cannot cancel the contract. However, cancellation
will be treated as car return. In this case, the calculation of the remaining amount you have to pay is
based on the principle of rent, with a minimum of 90 days rent fees, and according to article 2 of the
Lease contract. Also, the contract cancellation is subject to our approval.
13- Owning the car at the end of the Lease contract
When you settle all the monthly lease payments
and you want to own the car, follow the steps
below:
1- Visit your nearest Al Rajhi Bank showroom to
request car ownership transfer to you
2- Pay the Traffic Department fees (ownership
transfer fees) and the related administrative fees
3- Get your car insured (you can also renew your
existing insurance at Al Rajhi Takaful)
If you want to own the car during the Lease
contract, you must settle all outstanding
payments according to the terms and
procedures of Al Rajhi Bank. To own the car,
follow the steps below:
1- Call our phone banking on 92000 3344 (from
landline or mobile)
2- Choose early settlement of payments and follow
the voice instructions (make sure you have the
amount needed in your account)
3- Visit your nearest Al Rajhi Bank showroom to
request car ownership transfer
4- Pay the Traffic Department fees (ownership
transfer fees) and the related administrative fees
5- Get your car insured (you can also renew your
existing insurance at Al Rajhi Takaful)

15- Returning the car
If you decide to return the car before the end of the Lease contract, the monthly lease will be calculated
according to article 2 of the contract, and the extra mileage fee will be added (if the mileage limit is
exceeded) as clarified in the contract. Then, we will subtract the amounts you paid during the lease and
you pay us the difference, if any.
We advise you check with us all the available exit options before returning the car, by calling our
customer service and understanding all your due amounts according to each option.
Steps for returning the car:
1- Visit your nearest Al Rajhi Bank showroom and
request to know all the due amounts
2- Submit the car status report from the car dealer
stating that the car is clear of any damages or
breakdowns, otherwise you must repair any
breakdown or damage before you return the car
3- Submit the traffic clearance report that clears the
car of any traffic violations
4- Submit the car to the showroom
5- Make sure you have the due amount available in
your account with us
6- The Lease contract will be terminated on the day
you deliver the car
7- Get a clearance letter from the showroom
Note: Additional fees are to be charged for extra
miles, as per the Car Lease contract.
