VectorTrac3G Stolen Vehicle Recovery System

Developed by

Pegasus Technologies, Inc. 2

Who we are: Pegasus Technologies, Inc. was founded in 1991

to develop an affordable stolen vehicle recovery technology

In 1994, Pegasus introduced the ProAct Bait Car System, our first Law Enforcement tracking product

In 1997, Pegasus introduced the VectorTrac Stolen Vehicle Recovery System to international markets

Pegasus Technologies, Inc. 3

ProAct Bait Car System

ProAct Systems have been used successfully by law enforcement agencies to capture car thieves since 1994 and are still regularly featured on the television show

Bait Car

Pegasus Technologies, Inc. 4

ProAct IV Stolen Property Tracking System

Introduced in 2002, ProAct-IV has successfully captured and jailed many hundreds of criminals. This is the technology behind the bait bicycles of BaitBike.com and was recently

featured on the television show Inside Edition.

Stolen Vehicle Recovery Systems

First there was LoJack

Then there was VectorTrac

Now…

Pegasus Technologies, Inc. introduces a completely new

concept in Stolen Vehicle Recovery Technology

VectorTrac3G

Third Generation Stolen Vehicle Recovery System

By Pegasus Technologies, Inc.

Pegasus Technologies, Inc. 8

VectorTrac3G Stolen Vehicle Recovery System

Designed specifically to track and recover stolen vehicles

Combines GPS and Radio Frequency tracking technologies. The best of both!

They are equipment specific to complement GSM / GPRS

Pegasus Technologies, Inc. 9

VectorTrac3G

Utilizes Proprietary Land-Based radio Infrastructure

Operates over UHF Radio Frequencies

Locator Unit does not need a cellular connection

System Components• VectorTrac Communications Server

Owned and operated by Pegasus Technologies, Inc.

• Control Center Computer A simple PC connected to the internet.

• Sector Activation Transceivers (SATs) Installed at elevated locations throughout the

coverage area.

Pegasus Technologies, Inc. 11

System Components• Vehicle Locator Units

Completely hidden within the customer’s vehicle

• Mobile Tracking Receivers Locate the exact location of stolen vehicles, even if

hidden from view

System Component Details

Pegasus Technologies, Inc. 14

VectorTrac Communications Server (VCS)

Communicates with all system Sector Activation Transceivers via an Internet connection

Communicates with all Control Center Computers via the Internet

Contains the Client Database and a detailed System Operator Interface

Pegasus Technologies, Inc. 15

Sector Activation Transceivers A typical city-wide system may include 04 to 06

SATs SATs transmit commands to VLUs and receive GPS

and status data from VLUs SATs also measure the Received Signal Strength

of the VLU’s RF signal. SATs are connected to the internet via a

GSM/GPRS or other network connection and communicate directly with the VCS

Pegasus Technologies, Inc. 16

Mobile Tracking Receiver

Pegasus Technologies, Inc. 17

Mobile Tracking Receiver Installed in Recovery Vehicles Receives RF signal from VLU up to 3 miles (5 km)

away Displays direction to stolen vehicle Displays received signal strength allowing close

approximation of distance Displays VLU ID number and ignition status Leads trackers to the exact location of stolen

vehicle, even if hidden from view

Pegasus Technologies, Inc. 18

Vehicle Locator Unit 3 The VLU3 is a small Radio Transceiver with an

internal GPS Receiver, sold to your customers and installed within their vehicles

Includes GPS antenna, RF antenna, wire harness, and backup battery

Completely hidden and silent When activated, it transmits a silent radio signal

containing GPS data and status info Can be located using the GPS data or by utilizing

RF tracking techniques

Pegasus Technologies, Inc. 19

Vehicle Locator Unit – Third Generation (VLU3)

Less than one inch thick, the Vehicle Locator Unit is completely hidden within the Vehicle.

VLU shown with keys for size comparison

Pegasus Technologies, Inc. 20

VLU InstallationThe VLU is interfaced with the vehicle, utilizing

the vehicle’s electrical system for power. This also provides a constant charge to the VLU’s internal backup battery.

The VLU has two remotely activated outputs that can be activated from the control center to disable the vehicle’s engine and control additional functions.

Pegasus Technologies, Inc. 21

Many Valuable Features Hidden and Silent

VLU is hidden from view. Nothing on vehicle indicates that the vehicle is equipped with a tracking device.

Optional Panic ButtonVLU has one alarm input. When activated, this will cause

the VLU to send an alarm message to the Control Center.

Remote Engine DisableControl Center may remotely disable the vehicle in an

emergency situation and to aid in recovery.

Typical Theft Scenario...

Pegasus Technologies, Inc. 23

Customer notices vehicle missing…

VectorTrac Control Center

Reports theft toControl Center

Pegasus Technologies, Inc. 24

Control Center Verification

Control Center operator accesses customer data stored on the VCS, verifies customer’s identification and vehicle information, then sends activation command to activate the VLU in the stolen vehicle.

Pegasus Technologies, Inc. 25

Activation Signal is Transmitted

Sector Activation Transceivers broadcast the activation signal throughout the coverage area.

This SAT is located on an existing tower with many other users.

Location: Curacao, Netherlands Antilles

Pegasus Technologies, Inc. 26

Activated VLUTransmits silent signal...

Pegasus Technologies, Inc. 27

VLU Radio Signal Activated VLU transmits a silent radio

signal encoded with its ID, GPS location and vehicle ignition state

The signal easily penetrates buildings and obstructions

The radio signal is received by nearby SATs

Pegasus Technologies, Inc. 28

VLU signal is received by SATs

Nearby SATs receive signal from stolen vehicle

Decode the VLU ID, GPS location information and vehicle ignition state, and measure received signal strength

Forward this information to VectorTrac Communications Server

Pegasus Technologies, Inc. 29

VectorTrac Communications Server (VCS)

The Control Center can view the GPS data and SAT signal strength for the stolen vehicle, and send commands to the stolen vehicle

Mobile Trackers are now dispatched to vehicle’s

location

System operator dispatches Mobile Trackers

Pegasus Technologies, Inc. 32

Mobile TrackersMobile Tracking Receiver equipped vehicles and/or aircraft are

dispatched to the area.

Pegasus Technologies, Inc. 33

As the Trackers receive the VLU’s signal, the Mobile Tracking Receiver will begin to show directional indications,

pointing towards the stolen vehicle. The Signal can be tracked even before the VLU ID number can be decoded

Pegasus Technologies, Inc. 34

Following the directional indicator, the trackers begin to close in on the signal.

Pegasus Technologies, Inc. 35

The Stolen Vehicle is straight ahead at a distance of about 1 mile

Pegasus Technologies, Inc. 36

At a distance of about ½ Mile, the signal strength meter peaks

Pegasus Technologies, Inc. 37

The attenuator (ATTEN) is then turned on. About ½ Mile with Attenuator ON

Pegasus Technologies, Inc. 38

About 25 yards (Meters)

Pegasus Technologies, Inc. 39

The Tracker has located the stolen vehicle

Pegasus Technologies, Inc. 40

Recovery

Once the vehicle is located, the engine may be remotely disabled by the Control Center...

Pegasus Technologies, Inc. 41

Vehicle is Recovered

There’s no place to hide! Suspects Arrested

Pegasus Technologies, Inc. 42

Control Center contacts customer Informs customer that his vehicle has

been recovered. Provides information on how and

where to retrieve the vehicle.
