What is he Known for?

Walter is known for being a civil rights activist.

In 1918, Walter joined the small national staff of the National Association for the advancement for the colored people. This is located in New York. This took place because of the invitation of James Weldon Johnson.

Walter become the leader of the organization from 1931 to 1955.
